Instagram
No errors were seen on the website but no account was created for the user
The following errors were observed in the error logs
2020/09/21 14:06:28 [error] 1512#1512: *263 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in components/com_jfbconnect/libraries/provider/instagram.php on line 118" while reading response header from upstream, client: X.X.X.X, server: website.com, request: "GET /index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&task=authenticate.callback&provider=instagram&code=VQDCRVUPc7WZnWqDy1iYLOsLN-OuPyeScrIFeEy7jngMFiA2lSXGbvdzWny9cCaeVy3LKlAtyD3H6I6zIWcSCPqnWIo15830piE2RlkCAfLL9u-_wKHuwD5a3ehMSAE1boto-G5orf8lPEUPtJNih4vICHrMhr24xKxIeRjnUF7mHkMd06dUUz8A-4bTElGjnozmbg0Zo-g5mtYmIzrhgBwdfA107jBobDzdvtqAgmNR4Q&state=41c1e72673b7ebd3ee3659c0b6c3200e HTTP/2.0", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php/php7.0-fpm.sock:", host: "website.com", referrer: "https://l.instagram.com/"

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem happen with Meetup.
No errors were observed on the web page nor in the logs, however, no account was created for the user. Instead it takes the user to the long Easysocial registration form. Normally the account is automatically created if social registration works. It did look like the first field had been automatically populated though.

Instagram does not allow fetching a user's email address. Therefore, it's normal when trying to authenticate with Instagram that you are brought to a registration page to fill out your email address and other profile data.

Facebook is actively encouraging the use of only Facebook to perform authentication and are moving away from allowing Instagram and other of their properties existing authentication methods.

Unless Instagram is necessary for your site, I'd recommend using Facebook authentication and the other providers we offer.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else with this, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
