Hi Alex,
Hope you are well. Have a few questions:
1. I enabled the scsocial widget module but only the headline appears. See:
d.pr/i/VPvHR3
Here's the module with the settings visible:
d.pr/i/wEYwaP
Why is it not displaying properly

2. When someone hits this like button (in the module above when it's set to "Like") does that increase my site's facebook page count?
3. When a user likes any post on my site does that also increase the page like total, if not what does it count toward?
4. Do you have any advice for using jfbconnect for implementing a FB contest? I'm thinking of running a FB contest but the rules now say you can't ask a user to like a page or share to their timeline or a friend's timeline. I'm wondering if just asking them to login on my site with facebook is allowed and how I would choose a winner.
5. Do you have any experience with using your "Easy Tags" to implement social buttons in jReviews listings? JReviews has social sharing buttons on it's detailed listing pages, but I would like to have them on the listing pages (which present short summaries of many listings). See:
d.pr/i/0EmyK1

Thanks for your attention.

Peter,

Why is it not displaying properly

The like buttons on your page sometimes loaded for me and it seems to be related to the popups at the top and bottom of the pages. Once I close them and reload the page, the like shows properly. I'd look into that further.
File Attachment:

When someone hits this like button (in the module above when it's set to "Like") does that increase my site's facebook page count?

It looks like you've pointed the URL for the module at the Facebook page, so the count on the page should increase.

When a user likes any post on my site does that also increase the page like total, if not what does it count toward?

If the URL is pointing at the FB page URL, this is the only way the page like total will increase. Otherwise, the like button is tied to a specific URL. When you're at that specific URL, the like widget will show its appropriate count.

I don't see any reason that asking them to authenticate on your site would be against Facebook's terms. When they register with Facebook, we update the #__jfbconnect_usermap table with an entry that has their Joomla User ID, Facebook User ID and the created_at field (which is when they first logged in with Facebook). You likely could use that information to find all new users that registered with Facebook, or just do a contest including anyone that authenticated with Facebook. You'd need to do some database queries to pull that info, but it shouldn't be overly difficult.

Do you have any experience with using your "Easy Tags" to implement social buttons in jReviews listings?

Looking at JReviews, my best guess would be to go into the theme you're using /component/com_jreviews/views/themes/YOURTHEME/ and finding the right view to override (probably listings?). From there it should hopefully be straightforward to add the JFBCLike easy-tag.

Thanks melissa. I'll ask the develper of Engage Box about why it's not showing. The buttons don't show at all for me, even when the pop-ups are closed.

Also, how does the Like count work? It seems if I have several listings each with like button pointing to the FB page, that one user can like a page multiple times. Is that allowed?

Thanks melissa. I'll ask the develper of Engage Box about why it's not showing. The buttons don't show at all for me, even when the pop-ups are closed.

I believe that I had to refresh the page and that's when the buttons appeared.

Also, how does the Like count work? It seems if I have several listings each with like button pointing to the FB page, that one user can like a page multiple times. Is that allowed?

No, to my knowledge, a user can only like the Facebook Page a single time. Are you seeing the page count go up each time? I would suggest inspecting the listing to make sure the URL is exactly the same.

Hi Melissa,
Related to these two Facebook buttons, I see that I can create a module for Instagram but the options are only:
embedded media

Is there no way to get someone to click on the Instagram icon and follow us on Instagram?
And what is "embedded media"?

Thanks

The embedded media widget allows you to add Instagram photos and videos to your content. You can grab the link to embed from the item on Instagram.

Currently, I don't believe that Instagram has a widget with the capability to share or follow, or at least I can't find any developer documentation for it. If you can find any documentation on how to do this, feel free to shoot it our way.
