My Facebook feed, using a SC channel, is not displaying anything.

When I go to Components/JFB Connection/Channels to check the channels, I get the following error message when selecting either my Facebook channel, twitter channel, or New channel:-

"An error has occurred.
0 Class 'JFBConnectProviderLinkedInChannelCompany' not found
Return to Control Panel"

As far as I can tell, everything is configured correctly, and the above behaviour is new. I am not used a LinkedIn connection at all.

[NB: I do have an outstanding issue with Facebook app review but I received a message from faceboook on 22 October saying that they are delaying enforcement of permissions changes until early 2020, so I think the above problem is separate??]

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Can you tell me what version of JFBConnect you're using? The error seems to indicate that the /components/com_jfbconnect/provider/linkedin/channel/company.php file is not found. I'm unsure why that would be. Honestly though, that file isn't used any more as LinkedIn removed the ability to post to Company Pages through their API.

So.. as to why you'd be having the issue and what to do... I'd recommend re-installing JFBConnect. You can install it with the extension manager and it should automatically update everything as necessary. If you still have the issue, please check if the file I mentioned above is present on your system. If not, we'll need to understand why now. If so, we'll need to investigate a possible cause further.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, I am running version 8.3, but as a precaution I have just downloaded and re-installed the whole extension, then re-run autotune, but am getting the same error.

The file you mention does not exist but the following file is present: public_html/components/com_jfbconnect/libraries/provider/linkedin/channel/company.php - is that the path you meant?

What do you suggest I do next?

By the way, I am running two sites configured the same as each other as far as JFBC is concerned, and they are both exhibiting the same behaviour.

By the way again, my Twitter channel is working on the front end whereas the Facebook feed is not displaying, so I still have the feeling my issue is associated with the outstanding app review question. You are the expert though!

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,
What you're describing is really bizarre and not something we've seen or heard of before. We were able to recreate it on a development system, which means we should be able to fix it very soon. Stay tuned and we'll either provide a code fix or an updated release.

Thanks,
Alex

Nick,

I just put up a new release of JFBConnect. It resolved the issue on our test sites, so please let us know if you continue to have issues after you upgrade to it.

Thanks

Melissa, I am sorry to learn that I inadvertently uncovered a "bizarre" condition! but thank you for your efforts.

I am happy to confirm that, having now installed v 8.3.1 I am no longer having trouble accessing the Channels function on the JFBC back-end component.

My facebook app is still not rendering, but looking at the Facebook API error message I am now getting, I think this is due not to a failing inner software but a similar configuration or app review issue to the one I've experienced before. I will get on to looking at this myself.

I will get back to you or Alex if this different problem persists and I need further help.

Best wishes,
Nick

Hi again Melissa/Alex/SC team, my issue wasn't really "resolved" but making progress, and has NOW been resolved, by me:-

I thought I would just follow up to let you know, in case it proves useful to you in fielding future support requests and/or the following is new information, that my facebook feed appears to have been broken due only to me having to change my Facebook password recently due to a security alert from them.

I discovered this not because of anything helpful on developers.facebook.com (and so I now think *nothing* to do with any outstanding app review issues), but because of a message displayed on the JFBC channel page (once I had managed to restore this function with your software update). The message implied I needed to go through some new permissions-granting steps. However all I in fact had to do was use SC Login to establish a fresh login via Facebook to my site, and the channel issue then disappeared, ie my original problem resolved.

Hope this might help but thanks again for your prompt and effective support.
Nick

Thanks for the explanation. Other social networks have given warnings before that re-authentication is required as tokens are expired. I haven't seen a similar message with Facebook but that could be understandable if you run into something similar. We'll keep that in mind.

Thanks
