Alex, Melissa, Rather than trying to comment on that old post, I decided to create this anew.

If you recall Facebook disabled the app for www.911tap.org because it "created a negative user experience."

I appealed several times to have the ban lifted on the app with no response from Facebook

I finally deleted and recreated the Facebook App and it is working for now.

I am now going to wait and see if Facebook disables the App again. If they do, then I think there should be no confusion about the fact that they are actively engaged in censoring content.

Not sure what the response should be at that point.

I have to add, that when I try to post to the organizations Facebook page as the owner of the Facebook channel, I get the following message when trying to save the Channel data:

Facebook API Error: Error validating application. Application has been deleted.

The application has not been deleted and it is live. I have changed the channel email address, but I have updated that everywhere it needs to be update, yet when I save I still get that message. When I login as the social media manager and owner of the Facebook channel for the website, I do get the authentication message like I should be getting.

There is something about putting that Facebook App in development mode, but when I do that there is no difference still get the Application has been deleted message.

Since I have changed email addresses, is there something else I needs to be doing to get JFBConnect to connect to Facebook?

Sorry for missing this post earlier. I hope the new app survives and you don't run into any other trouble.

For the Channel and JFBConnect, if you've changed the Facebook App ID & Secret Key, you'll need to do some other cleaning to get things working properly:
* You should delete any Channels you've created previously and recreate them. The authorization tokens for things like posting to your Facebook Page will no longer work since they are tied to the 'old' app. The best way to make sure they're cleared out properly is to recreate the channels.
* Similarly, I'd recommend going to the Usermap area of JFBConnect and delete any Facebook mappings in there. Each Facebook App assigns a unique ID for users. So user 'a' signing up with your old app may have an id of 12345, but with the new app, their id may be 98765. JFBConnect won't be able to look up the 'old' association using the new App keys.. so those obsolete connections should be removed as well.

Users will still be able to authenticate with Facebook and, if their Facebook email matches their Joomla email, the accounts should be linked again automatically with the new ID. Generally, this is hassle-free for users, but definitely test to make sure there are no issues.

I hope that helps,
Alex
