Topic-icon Change Facebook Page for existing Channel

Hi,

I am following up on another post (www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...-installation-errors) because that topic actually discusses two different topics: an installation error and difficulties configuring a channel. With this post I would like to follow up on the latter.

The advice to set the "Show 'Login Credentials' in Popup" in JFBConnect to 'No', solved our login problems. We were able to set the 'manage_page' permission for a page, refresh the Social Channel page and select the permitted page. After saving, we now also see valid information in the Stream Test section. So thanks for that.

We have one more question though. The "Facebook Page" selectbox currently only shows the one page we set the 'manage_page' permission for. How can we now allow permission to more pages?

Regards,
Pieter-Jan de Vries

When you grant 'manage_pages' for a user, it should show all pages that that user is an admin of. If it's not, then I'd double check that you are the admin of those extra pages.

With Facebook, there really isn't a way to grant permission for just one permission. The permission is for all pages that you administer, so I'm unsure why it wouldn't show the extras.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

The first time I logged in using SCLogin, I had to check all pages I wanted to grant the permission to. I only granted the permission to one of the available pages. Therefore I only see that one page in the channel's "Facebook Page" selectbox now. So what I am actually asking, is how to make one or more of the other pages available, which I initially unchecked :)

Facebook doesn't make it easy to re-request permissions. The idea is that if you've limited permissions, the app shouldn't be able to continuously re-request them and pester you.

The only way I know to re-request that permission is to revoke the permission first. To do that, go to:
www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applications

Then, find your app and you can remove the Manage Pages permission (or just remove the app entirely). When you log back in to your site with Facebook, the permissions will be requested again.

I hope that helps,
Alex
