I have just tried to post to our Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn page, but the LinkedIn post fails. When I try to login using my LinkedIn account credentials to our site that also fails. It was working when I last tried a few weeks ago, but I do find logging in with LinkedIn unreliable. I have checked the LinkedIn ID and client secret for the app.

I am not sure what is wrong...please help!

Can you tell me any details about what's happening when you try to login? Do you get any error messages or something that explains what's happening, or are you just redirected back to your login page?

Any information you can provide will help us investigate more on our end. We're not aware of any general LinkedIn authentication issues, but always like to get ahead of problems.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Sorry for the delay. I have been away.

Oddly enough the post to the LinkedIn stream worked today. I have changed nothing! I note that the social preview via socialdebug takes a few goes to get it to work.

When trying to log in using LinkedIn, the app appears, I enter my credentials and it fails. It presents the app again and then either fails or occasionally works. I wondered if it was my password manager, so disabled that and tried again but that makes no difference. On one PC I get a black screen with "authorisation png" in the tab title.

I have found that very few members use the social login feature, and none use LinkedIn. This might be why.

It's strange you're running into issues with LinkedIn authentication. I just tried on your site and it seemed to work the first time by bringing me to the profile selection page. On selecting a type "... professional", my edit profile area had my name, a username and email pre-filled. I didn't follow through to actually create an account, but can if you'd like me to test it out.

With that said, I'd double check that things fail in other browsers. Depending on the type of browser your using, and the add-ons you have enabled, social networking features may be intentionally blocked. There's a lot of 'privacy' extensions that stop almost all tracking, which also stop most social network functionality.

I hope that helps get you started, but if you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Alex
