Hello,
I have an issue with my forum (Easydiscuss).
The component automatically insert correct og tags in all pages but the homepage.
I have thus disabled JFB Connect for the whole component to allow Easydiscuss to place its own og tags, but is there a way to enable JFB Connect tags only for the forum homepage? (accademiainfinita.it/forum).
That's the only page where og tags are not being placed by Easydiscuss.

Thank you

Unfortunately, we don't have that level of granularity. When you instruct JFBConnect to skip a component, it's going to do that for the entire component. It would be difficult to come up with a system of extremely specific inclusions and exclusions like you're looking for.

You may want to contact the EasyDiscuss developers to help them understand what you're looking for. Their support is extremely helpful as well and may be able to point you in the right direction if that feature already exists in their extension, or give some ideas on how to get what you're looking for going.

Thanks,
Alex

I understand,
I have kind of the same issue with Hikashop.
Hikashop generates its own og:tags, but only for product pages (or at least, category pages have issues).
I had to disable JFBConnect for Hikashop, otherwise og:tags generated by Hikashop wouldn't work, but this way I can't add custom tags to category pages via JFBConnect...
the only option would be to completely disable Hikashop own tags and customize all my shop templates to add JFBConnect tags, but I'd prefer to not go so deep.

I suspect something similar may be happening for many other components out there, maybe people dont' report it because they do not care enough about correct open graphs.
So... in the end I guess this is a feture request for you to try to solve this issue on your side, it would be a great addon to an already great extension :)

Thanks for the explanation. It does help to understand the difficulties our users are running into. It's something we'll have to look into in the future as I agree it may affect other components. The bigger question is how often are the category views or other views without open graph tags actually shared. If it's not promoted on Facebook much, and the individual product pages are, then Open Graph is doing what it mainly needs to. Obviously, good OG tags on all pages is best, but we're also wary of even more granular configuration settings in JFBConnect as that adds more confusion to an already pretty complex extension.

Either way, this has been noted. If we come up with anything or have any stop-gap solutions for now to get you going, we'll let you know.. but I don't have any suggestions for now outside of what you wrote yourself.

Thanks,
Alex
