Since extending my Jomsocial site to JFBConnect, users can no longer register and log in.

Your website looks down. Please let us know when it is back up so we can see the behavior in action.

Additional questions,
* Are there any Javascript errors on the console?
* Have you passed the Autotune error checks without any errors in JFBConnect?

Since extending my Jomsocial site to JFBConnect, users can no longer register and log in.

Are they no longer able to log in with existing Joomla users? Are there error messages? Are users able to log in with social login buttons?

Let us know these details and we'll gladly try to help you get this going.

-Melissa

The site is back. We had to restore it from from a backup. However, we don't dare now to re-install JFBConnect.

Andrew,
We're glad to hear you got your site back up again.

We never like to hear that JFBConnect could have caused some problems on a site. From your details, we don't have much to go on to understand what happened, so there's little assistance we can provide right now. With that said, there are hundreds of sites using both JFBConnect and EasySocial without issue and there is integration between both of our extensions done by both the StackIdeas and our team.

If you decide that you'd like deeper social network integration in the future, please don't hesitate to get in touch as we're normally able to resolve conflicts or problems quickly once we're made aware of problems.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm actually trying to use JFBConnect with JomSocial, not EasySocial. The site works fine with JomSocial installed, but the moment I'm installing JFBConnect, I have problems logging in and out, so I had to uninstall it:
1. When logging in, I get a message saying that the login had failed even though I'm logged in.
2. When logging in, the site redirects to a non-exisisting page and therefor produces an error too.

Sorry for saying EasySocial instead of JomSocial. We have similar integration with both though as JomSocial has a "Integrate with JFBConnect" option in it's configuration area as well :)

If you're still trying to get it setup, let us know. There are a lot of settings in both JFBConnect and JomSocial that could be at play here. For #2, I know the JomSocial Redirect plugin has caused issues in the past for behavior like you describe, but it could be something with SEF functionality or the menu item you have setup for the New User (or Returning User) Redirection in JFBConnect.

For the logging in part, if you can let us know the specific message, that will help. It may be related to #2 though in that the page being redirected to is simply restricted to another level of user so you're getting a message that seems like the user isn't logged in when actually they're trying to view a page they don't have permissions to view (which can look like a page that doesn't exist).

I hope that gives some ideas on possible causes, but like I said, I can gladly help further if you're still trying to get things going!

Thanks,
Alex

Okay, then, I will give installing JFBConnect another go. Please tell me, when would be a good time. I have a whole team working with me on developing the site, so I would like to minimise any downtime. Please advise when would be a good day to do so, in other words, on what day would you be able to assist me with any problems?

We're US based and while we work a lot, daytime hours for US is the best time to post and get a quicker response.

As for giving it another go, just note that unpublishing the JFBCSystem plugin should disable almost all functionality of our extension. You can go further by disabling the Authentication, User and Content plugins if you still think there are issues. By disabling all of those plugins, JFBonnect is effectively disabled and isolated from the rest of your system.

So, now that you know what to do if things go wrong, in general, I'd recommend configuring things in this order:
* Install JFBConnect
* Delete any Channels you have setup if they still exist (starting clean is best)
* Setup your Facebook Application and add the API/Secret keys to JFBConnect
* Enable the SCLogin module to allow authentication (can be enabled on some interior/hidden page)
* Test that authentication and login functions normally
* Enable the Social Profiles - JomSocial plugin
* In the JFBConnect -> Profiles area, configure import information how you want
* Test logging in with the SCLogin module again
* Enable the integration with JFBConnect in JomSocial
* Test authentication on the JomSocial page

I hope that helps with some pointers, but if you need anything else or run into issues, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
