Topic-icon JFBC creating many "pages" indexed by google from the login proccess

hello,
i have recently discovered a strage issue with JFBC authentication proccess on 2 of my sites.
i'm not sure since when this is happaning.

google is indexing many pages with URLs from JFBC social login authentication - see the attached screenshot from the Google Webmaster Tool. the URLs are marked with a yellow square.
File Attachment:

when i click "VIEW AS SEARCH RESULT" in GWT, the page in the search result had the title "Google - Sign In", and the indexed URL, starting with the site's domain.
but when i click it i get to the google's authetication page of the social-login proccess, which start with google's domain:

should this happan?
i don't understand why JFBC's social login procces generating "real pages" that get indexed?
this creates a lot of indexed pages with no content, which are basiclly duplicates of one another... very bad for our SEO.
i have more 100 pages like this in google's index, out of 450 indexed pages.

additionaly, i have an even stranger issue with those URLs.
the Google Webmaster Tool account for this site (and also the 2nd one) is showin tens of thousands of incoming links to these URLs.
see this screenshot:

i have no idea what's going on here... can you please help me figure it out?

thank you

All JFBConnect login URLs are generated through Javascript. They normally aren't indexed by Google as they aren't in <a ..> tags on the page. With that said, Google does do deeper scans on sites to generate the Javascript URLs that could be followed and other such behavior. There's nothing we can do to prevent this behavior.

this creates a lot of indexed pages with no content, which are basiclly duplicates of one another... very bad for our SEO.

Yes, duplicate *content* is bad for SEO because your valuable content page gets split into multiple URLs and the link value is distributed as well. The URLs you're mentioning are not content at all, Google may show them as 'indexed', but that doesn't mean that they are showing them in any results and the SEO value of those pages is zero no matter how many times its divided.

If you're concerned though, I'd suggest:
* Downloading the index maps from Google and checking the referring URL that's showing those pages. Then, you can check the page to ensure the URL isn't in an anchor tag somewhere. If so, let us know and we can help investigate that.
* The URL map should also help understand where all those referral links are coming from. I don't think you're saying Medium, Zomato and other sites are pointing to our authentication links though, so I'm not sure how that's related to JFBConnect.
* Use the Google Index -> Remove URLs tool to setup a wildcard removal search or add the JFBConnect path to your robots.txt file in the disallow section, like:
Disallow: /index.php?option=com_jfbonnect*

I hope that helps give some explanation and ideas, but if you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi, Thanks for the fast response.

Yes, duplicate *content* is bad for SEO because your valuable content page gets split into multiple URLs and the link value is distributed as well. that makes sense. thank you for clarifying this issue.

I don't think you're saying Medium, Zomato and other sites are pointing to our authentication links though, so I'm not sure how that's related to JFBConnect.

yes, i'm sure that those sites don't really point to this URL. also, if it was someone trying to do negative SEO then i don't think they would choose this authentication link.
it must be some kind of bug.
but since (almost) all links are pointing to this JFBC URL, i assumed it's related to the component somehow. did you ever see such an issue on other sites using JFBC?

We haven't seen this issue before, and I'm definitely confused as to what's going on. We even checked our own webmaster tools info after you posted and this site definitely doesn't have all those pages indexed.

So, in the CSV download of your links, those other sites are shown as linking to one of the JFBConnect authentication pages? If so, yeah, I'd have to imagine that's some sort of really weird bug. That CSV download should show the Referrer URL though, which means you can go right to those other sites and check the exact page to see if they are linking to anything on your site. That will help confirm.

If the referring URL has no links to your site, you may want to submit a report to Google. They make mistakes too.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex, Thank you for the detailed response and apologize for the delay on my part.
i did check a few of these reffering links and couldn't find any links to my site. also - these links shown in GWT showed up suddenly and all together, not over time - so i can't imaging that 500,000 links to this same authentication URL were actually created over more then a 1,000 sites in just a few days.
i had the same issue in another site, and in that site the problem is now gone - meaing GWT no longer shows this links.
this must be a google related but as you wrote, i will report to them.
thank you
