In JFBC config, Skip Joomla User Activation is set to yes. Still, if I login with IG, trying to create a new user account automatically, I end up with a blocked account.

We haven't heard of that before. Can you let me know a few more details:
* Do you have other social networks setup and, if so, do they also leave the user as deactivated?
* Do you have any profile extensions installed, like CB, JomSocial, EasySocial, etc?
* For the user that is created, is their email address set properly?

Let me know and we can gladly help investigate further.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex. Looks like that was a one-off glitch. I deleted all related rows from the DB tables and tried again. Worked fine. No idea what went wrong the first time. The Joomla user was created as new, so it's wasn't an earlier blocked user either. Anyway, it works now. Thanks for you help!

We had a new case. I think what happened is this. JFBC is set to bypass user activation, but regular Joomla user registration (jomsocial) does use activation by the user. User registers new account in jomsocial, but doesn't see the activation mail. User is impatient and wants to log in, and thus clicks a JFBC connect button, to login through Facebook or similar. The account is now activated, but still blocked.

Not 100% sure, but I think this is how it happens.

If so, it would be good if JFBC would also unblock an account on first login, in addtition to activating it.

Jeroen,
That would make sense, but we can't implement the solution like you suggest. It would open sites up to bad behavior by allowing people to 'unblock' their own accounts simply by logging in with a different social network. If an account is blocked, JFBConnect respects that because we don't know the cause of the block (whether it's an activation issue or an admin block).

I'd suggest any or all of the following:
* Make it very clear to the user that they will be getting an activation email and need to click the link in that email
* Disabling the "Automatically link users by email" setting, which will not let a user connect an existing account to a social network until they have already logged in with that Joomla account

I hope that helps explain things and, of course, if you have other suggestions or ideas, please let us know and we'll gladly help investigate them further.

Thanks,
Alex

No problem. Facebook (who owns Instagram) is making a lot of changes to their platforms now, which we're updating JFBConnect to handle. So far, there's no major breaks, but we're working to make sure that JFBConnect continues to operate smoothly with some changes we'll be rolling out as well.

In other words, please let us know if you run into anything else :)

Thanks,
Alex
