AutoTune was created by kymo42
When trying to complete part 2 of Autotune, Website Links, having completed the form and clicked save "save all Recomendations", I get an error message top left:

Facebook API Error: (#100) Please enter a valid email address.

There is no option in FB admin to add support email?

If I leave blank and "save custom settings" The error is the same?

Any ideas?

cheers

In the "Website Links" section, there is an option for "User Support Email". You'll need to fill that out and save your settings.

I hope that helps, but if not, please let us know any more details you can.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi

Sorry, prob not being clear. If I put an email address in that section and try to save either as custom or Recommended, the result is the same?

Facebook API Error: (#100) Please enter a valid email address.

If FB doesn't ask for it - then why is it in the component asking for it anyway?

cheers

Hmmm... I'm unsure why you're getting this error. It's not something we can recreate, but are investigating.

In the Facebook Developer area, in the general "Settings" area is an option for Contact Email. You're right that Support Email isn't shown there. It's only shown if you enable the App Center "Product" for your app. Many users don't enable the App Center. If you did enable the App Center and the Support Email wasn't set, then Autotune normally wouldn't let you save your settings.. so we always had it included as a required setting.

However, it's possible that Facebook has changed something to where you can't set it at all if App Center isn't enabled.

One last question, are you using a 'standard' email address, like a .com or even a large provider one like gmail.com? If you're using from a different top-level domain, like .xyz or something, Facebook may just be rejecting that email as not valid for some reason. If you can try a more common domain, that may fix the problem as well.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi

I have checked my Dev email is set to a gmail account, but ironically had tried that 1 anyway.
Also no luck enabling App Centre "product" just because it is only used for FB log-in.

So are no settings being saved in your Facebook App using Autotune?

We'll continue to investigate, but I'd recommend setting the options in the Facebook developer area manually. That's obviously what Autotune is meant to avoid because Facebook changes that dev area all the time, so settings move around a lot.. but I think it should be generally straightforward and you can look at what Autotune is recommending if you can't figure something out.

I do hope that helps, but if not, keep us posted. We'll try to recreate, but so far, all our apps have no problem with the email field and we haven't heard this from other users either.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi
Everything in Autotune settings is fine except for that email address, so SCLogin works great but the JFBConnect share module only shares the website page title and does not use the oauth info. After checking all the privacy and Public settings + ssl - I am assuming that it is this 1 thing left in AutoTune that is holding up the shares?

What is shared in Facebook is controlled completely by the Open Graph meta tags that are used on the page. JFBConnect will try to set these automatically based on the content. I'd recommend enabling any Open Graph plugins that were installed with JFBConnect for components that you're using. Those plugins help JFBConnect understand how to generate the right tags for the content, like adding images for Joomla articles.

You can use the Facebook URL Debug Tool to see the tags that JFBConnect is setting for any page on your site. Facebook fetches that data every few days, but you can use that tool to force Facebook to re-scrape the data whenever you want.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi

OK thank you for your help, I will just leave that error in AutoTune if it does not affect anything.
And will get to work on OG tagging.

Sounds good. As mentioned, you generally shouldn't need to do much manual OG tagging on your own. We do have a powerful system that automatically tries to generate the tags for each page, but then you can override things on a per-page basis as necessary.

Thanks,
Alex
