Topic-icon articles / single article not working in 3.8

When using JFBConnect, I get a 500 error when using JFBConnect when I navigate to any submenu in which it is set to display article/single article.

Seems they are passing an empty value into the JRegistry object

Requesting a fix.

I imagine this is widespread.

We haven't heard of this issue from users with Joomla 3.8. We also have a dev sites that use Joomla 3.8 and aren't seeing any 500 errors when navigating.

Can you please help explain what you've configured and how you're getting to the 500 error page further? Also, if you turn on Display Errors in the Joomla Configuration area, is there more details about the 500 error that you can provide?

Finally, please try disabling the JFBCSystem plugin and see if the error goes away. That will help ensure that it's related to JFBConnect somehow and help with our investigation based on the other details you provide above.

Thanks,
Alex

The site is currently live so I don't want to recreate the problem until or unless I know someone is present to help address in real time.

Thanks for the debug information. That helps us understand where the error is arising, but we still don't understand what's causing it.

Can you tell us what that sub-menu page is?
Is it a Joomla article or some other component page?
If it's an article, have you set any easy-tags set on that page, like {JFBCLike ...} or others?
Does this happen on every sub-menu, or is it only on a specific page? If it's only on a specific page, is there anything you can tell us about that page as to how or why it's different than other pages?

Basically, this isn't an issue we've heard of from any other users and we need to understand more about that page or your site's configuration to narrow down where the problem may lay before we can determine a solution.

Thanks,
Alex

It's upsetting when I've already answered the question. It fails to work (displays the 500 error) on every article that's setting is article/single article. The featured article works. The category blog displays work. It's only the single article display that comes back like this because it's calling an object that doesn't exist (at least that's what I gather per the errors). And this only began happening in Joomla 3.8 (worked fine in 3.7.5).

Every single page for joomla article/single article. We also use the cart software J2Store (never had any conflicts). The template the site is built on is a Gantry 4 (if any of those details matter). The site itself is steampunkpipeworks.com and if you tell me which region to turn on (currently GeoBlocking most everything that isn't USA to prevent attacks. . . and because the seller doesn't ship anywhere else in the world yet). . . then I can put whatever IP you tell me on a whitelist or whatever country you're trying to access from so you can see the actual page.

With JFBConnect, I'm using the social buttons AND comments on every article. I currently have to have it disabled because it won't show the articles/single article. .

We're US based, so I can view the site just fine. I just tried to go to all articles in the Floor Lamps menu (based on your picture above, that seems like the right section) and they all loaded.

With JFBConnect, I'm using the social buttons AND comments on every article. I currently have to have it disabled because it won't show the articles/single article. .

Are you saying when you enable social buttons and comments, that's when the error happens and it goes away if you disable both? Can you test if it fails (or passes) with either, but not both, of those enabled?

As noted, we haven't heard of this from other users and can't recreate ourselves. I apologize to keep asking questions, but just trying to narrow down the possible failure mode. If we find some JFBC specific setting that causes the fail, we may be able to recreate it, which will speed up a fix.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes, it is when I enable JFBConnect social buttons and comments on articles (the whole point of buying the software), that's when the error re-emerges. I can give you access to test and turn on and off yourself for the purpose of helping or I can create you a Super Admin user. I just need the problem to go away and I prefer a method that doesn't mean I don't get to use your product.
