Facebook suddenly stopped using the the images provided by EasyTags and started grabbing the first image on the page even though both the og and twitter meta image tags are set on the page.

If I go to that link at www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/673-bec...mber-of-the-tap-team, the metatags on the page do not match what you've posted in your above message. There's no og:image tag in the source for that page, hence the FB error "The 'og:image' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags." when I rescrape your page

Here are the tags I'm seeing in your source:
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image"/><meta name="twitter:site" content="@social-media.admin"/><meta name="twitter:creator" content="@social-media.admin"/><meta property="og:url" content="https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/673-become-a-member-of-the-tap-team"/><meta name="twitter:title" content="Home"/><meta property="og:title" content="Home"/><meta name="twitter:description" content="911TAP Evidence in English Great Britton"/><meta property="og:description" content="911TAP Evidence in English Great Britton"/><meta property="og:type" content="website"/><meta property="fb:app_id" content="304566409919285"/><meta property="og:locale" content="en_gb"/><meta property="og:site_name" content="9/11 Truth Action Project"/>

Why am I seeing one thing and you are seeing another?

All the EasyTags are in place and are good.and were working last week

I updated to the latest 7.2 version of JFBConnect

JWPlayer does provide it's own metatags on pages where there are videos and I am aware of that and make a decision of whether to have the video player supply the metatags or JFBConnect and that has NOT been a problem in the past. I also have an image slider that sets metatags when I pin a slide to the front of the lineup, but I have turned that off.

I need to get a Newsletter out in an hour and this sort of popped up out the blue and kicked me in the chops.

Here is what I get from view source for www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/681-lib...false-flag-terrorism

<meta name="twitter:image" content="www.911tap.org/images/articles/2017/04/k...y-pin-fb_b8608.jpg"/>
<meta property="og:image" content="www.911tap.org/images/articles/2017/04/k...y-pin-fb_b8608.jpg"/>
<meta property="og:url" content="www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/681-lib...lag-terrorism.html"/>
<meta name="twitter:title" content="Liberty Lives in the Light: Illuminate + End 'False-Flag' Terrorism"/>
<meta property="og:title" content="Liberty Lives in the Light: Illuminate + End 'False-Flag' Terrorism"/>
<meta name="twitter:description" content="Encouraging all to “Peaceably Assemble for Truth: JFK to 9/11,” (www.JFKvigil.com) Karl Golovin points to historical evidence, patterns and forces underlying “False-Flag” terrorism, from JFK’s assassination, through 9/11, including the less-well-known Operation(s) Northwoods and Gladio…"/> Twitter is being supplied the same description as the og: tag even though they are different in the EasyTags
<meta property="og:description" content="Encouraging all to “Peaceably Assemble for Truth: JFK to 9/11,” (www.JFKvigil.com) Karl Golovin points to historical evidence, patterns and forces underlying “False-Flag” terrorism, from JFK’s assassination, through 9/11, including the less-well-known Operation(s) Northwoods and Gladio…"/>

Yet Facebook uses this generic image instead: www.911tap.org/images/files/top-banner/911tap-banner_c8100.jpg

Again, why am I seeing one thing and you are seeing another?? I clear all cashes after everything I do, including Joomla caches both clear and purge retired, and CloudFlare CDN cache.

The issue is that on the page you linked to, there is the following og:url tag:
<meta property="og:url" content="https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/681-liberty-lives-in-the-light-illuminate-end-false-flag-terrorism.html"/>
That's called out in the "Redirect Path" section of the Facebook Debug Tool. That tag is telling Facebook to go to the URL above to get get Open Graph information and all links/shares should go to that og:url page as well.

The only difference is the .html at the end, but that's a big difference as the .html page has no content and no og:image tag as Facebook notes.

I'm not sure where the og:url tag is being generated from. I don't think it's the automatic tag that JFBConnect puts on the page. Hopefully you know where it's coming from and can fix it though.

Thanks,
Alex

Wow, that is my mistake because I decided to drop the .html from the page designation with the idea of improving SEO yet still added it when forming the URLs from the item ID and the item alias.

Really good catch Alex, I would have been banging my head against the wall for a pretty long period of time before discovering that.

Now I owe you more than just the cost of subscription.

Just to be clear you nailed the issue and the problem is resolved.

The new problem that cropped up is that I can't log into cards-dev.twitter.com, though I can log into www.twitter.com. Did twitter change something? This just happened recently, never had the problem before last week. solved it, it is cards-dev.twitter.com/validator

Glad to hear that fixed things for you. We should put out a tip bucket, I guess :)

Seriously though, it was an issue that had Melissa and I stumped for a bit as well.. but glad we found it so we can help anyone else who runs into the same problem.

All the best,
Alex

Yeh, great idea make a little glass jar icon and write tips on it and connect it to PayPal and see what happens.
