Hi,

I've just switched to JFBConnect today in the hope that I could solve my problems in the way my article and JReviews open graph cards are presented on FB and other social media networks.

Unfortunately, I'm having trouble gripping the support documentation and video information regarding the set-up of open graph cards. I've created all the APIs and apps etc from Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc that's not the drama...

The problem is incorrect or no images for articles/reviews are displayed when an article is shared via SM.

I don't quite understand if the issues are caused by my custom template or if I just need to configure certain settings (like tags) to get the basics done right so that when an article or a review is shared from my website it's actually presented nicely and more importantly correctly.

I'm happy to pay a fee for support if this is deemed outside of the expected subscription support here just to get me started so I can move on with my life :)

My website is www.selfsufficientme.com

Thanks

Edit: Also, there seems to be a problem with the social media icons in article not displaying in line on mobile device (eg Samsung S5) again not sure if this is a template issue...

If I can just amend my above post - it seems the images are now being picked up (maybe my cache was interfering with getting a true reading from my site when I first tested it after installing JFBConnect) so that is great news!

However, in the Open Graph debugger it is still giving me a few errors:
1. Missing Required Property The 'og:type' property is required, but not present.
2. Inferred Property The 'og:image' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
3. Parser Mismatched Metadata The parser's result for this metadata did not match the input metadata. Likely, this was caused by the data being ordered in an unexpected way, multiple values being given for a property only expecting a single value, or property values for a given property being mismatched. Here are the input properties that were not seen in the parsed result: 'og:title, og:type, og:site_name, og:description, fb:app_id'

Are these errors easy enough to fix?

Also, the social sharing icons are still acting a little odd and skewed on mobile (particularly in portrait view) shows a lot of gaps and uneven - is this likely a template probem?

Lastly, I'm really glad I moved from my other SM set-up to JFB - the FB integration is amazing especially the comments. Overall this is obviously a very professional extension and no wonder it's rated so highly. Cheers

That is great news :) The Open Graph Debugger that you're using is the best tool to force Facebook to re-fetch your page and update their cache. If you don't use that, it can take Facebook 1-2 weeks to automatically scan the page and detect the new tags.

As to the errors you noted, can you let me know what specific URL you are testing? I just tried on a few articles from your home page and each had an og:type, image and I couldn't find the mis-matched tags.

In general though, JFBConnect tries to automate the process of tags as much as possible. We have specific Open Graph plugins that can help automatically set the image and other data for specific extensions as well. Even without a plugin for a specific extension though, it should just work. For critical pages, there are ways to set/override the tags individually so that you can curate pages exactly how you want them to display.

For more information on how to do any of the above, just let me know. And, if you're still having those Open Graph issues, just let us know the URL.

Thanks,
Alex

Ok will do thanks Alex! But, for now the Open Graph looks like it's fine.

Just on the social media icons question I had in the previous post, please see the attached image this happens on mobile devices in portrait view whereby the icons spread and there's a large white space. It also happens on the static box icons - JFBC social share module...

Any clue as to what might cause this?

Cheers :)

Hey Alex,

don't worry about my last post regarding the SM icons because I've found out it was my template and I've fixed it.

I'm looking forward to exploring JFBConnect more congrats on such a top extension.
