Topic-icon Facebook likes not being reflected on articles

Hello,

It appears that before when I posted a link to my article on FB would, any "Like" would be reflected on the article. However, this no longer appears to be the case. Am I missing something? Also, is there somewhere I can get information on how to do the floating share options, like you have on the bottom right of this page?

Thanks in advance.

The floating share buttons are from our JFBCSocialShare module. There is an option to have the contents 'float' or 'fixed'. We use 'float' and set the top and left settings to 3000, which means it floats at the bottom right of the page.

I'm not so sure what's happening. Is there a URL you can share where we can see the Like count not working properly? That will help us narrow things down quickly.

Thanks,
Alex

Facebook Like's are only counted when a user clicks the Like button on the actual article itself. The posts on Facebook look to be status updates that you included the link to the article. In that case, any user that clicks Like within Facebook is liking your post, not the article you shared.

If you think about it, it makes sense as the post you create could be for or against the link that is shared, or could be mostly unrelated to it. If a user clicks Like, they are liking the status update that goes along with the article. If they go to your site and click the Like button, they are liking the article itself. In the latter case, the Like count should increase in the Like counter for the article.

I hope that helps explain, but if you have any other questions, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
