These issues are both things that JFBConnect will automatically correct, with time. Facebook uses Open Graph tags, which are hidden tags on the page, to describe the title, description and image to use for your pages.1. FB Like button within K2 item- When it is clicked, it has the check mark as if it worked but nothing shows up on the FB activity log.
2. FB Share button within K2 item- When it is clicked, the sites name shows up in the FB wall but not the title of the individual item. There is no image for the item. All FB shares use same generic image for items shared.
It really depends. It can take days for some pages if they are new and Facebook chooses to scan them again. For older pages, it can take longer as Facebook has to build up trust that the new tags are correct and going to stay that way. It prevents bait and switch type behavior where an owner gets a lot of shares for one page, and then changes the content/tags to something unrelated.You said, "These issues are both things that JFBConnect will automatically correct, with time." I am wondering how much time to auto correct?
You should enable any that are installed in the opengraph plugin group for extensions that you use. So, if you use Joomla Content and K2, that should be good. The Custom Object gives you a bit more flexibility to add custom tags to any page on your site, but it's more developer-oriented.You said, "You can enable any Open Graph plugins that were installed (like for Joomla Content) as well that helps to set even better tags, for images for example." I found three from
SourceCoast, Open Graph Content, Open Graph Custom Object, and Open Graph-K2. I enabled all three. If I Google "Joomla Open Graph," I see there are other's available? Do I need any other than the ones I found for SourceCoast?
Can you point to a page with this issue (you can exclude the domain and just use the path to an article) so we can test as well?For FB, the error says, "This page has both an og:url tag and a rel="canonical" tag, but they are set to different values. The Open Graph information shown below may not be used by Facebook." I'm not sure what to do with that?
There's no image set for the page. The Open Graph - Content will try to find a suitable image in an article to use. You can also add a 'default' image to be used on all of your pages (like a logo) in case one can't be found on the page itself. To do that, go to the Open Graph -> Configuration area. Then, in the defaults box, add:The warning says, "The og:image tag is missing."

The A is because the Open Graph - K2 plugin is finding the image and setting it correctly, which helps your score. The "Only Me" is what Facebook chooses for your content. With time, as more people like/share your content, that can change to "Friends". It's a matter of building reputation and trust with Facebook and not something we can force in our extension.On the positive side, when I put in the url of an K2 item/article, I get an overall "A". When I click the "Like" button on that article, it does show up in my activity log but defaults to "Only Me" rather than "Friends."
Again, for this, I'd recommend removing your API/Secret key for Google if you're not using it for Google Authentication. If that still doesn't work, let us know and we can investigate further.I will keep working with it for a few days and see if some of the bugs resolve. What is the ETA for the Google + button to be fixed. I had no problem with the free SP Share Google + button so a little perplexed why I would have the problem with a paid extension? It's fine if it will be fixed soon in the next week or so but let me know if it will be longer than that.
I'm not sure what you mean by any of these items. Can you explain a bit more?Also, I was expecting an option for putting share buttons on images? I haven't see that yet. I will have to go back and see where I saw that before I purchased. And isn't there an option for the buttons to move down the page when you scroll?
// URL Encode the path only, but not the slashes within the path
$url .= implode('/', array_map('urlencode', explode('/', $path)));;
$url .= $path;
I'm glad to hear that got you going. We'll look into the best way to implement this in the next release that doesn't break other user's sites and keeps things working for you.I edited the code as directed and it seemed to work. The Google + button finally appears to be working.
We don't support custom images on the share buttons. The reason is that not all networks support this, and the ones that do change the code necessary to implement it quite frequently. In general, they don't want you to use custom images because it can be used to 'game' your users into clicking on things that they don't mean to, so there are a lot of restrictions on what the custom images are supposed to look like. Not all extensions follow those requirements and whole sites have been banned by Facebook because they didn't follow the terms of service. We really try to make sure our users are always abiding the by the ToS and using the standard branded icons are very recognizable to all users (which increases click rates) and have no chance of getting you in Facebook's 'bad' radar.I had asked about having share icons on images but I realized that was an option for a competitors product I had looked at called JS Ultimate Social Share. I did like the idea of the end user being able to share a photo from an item/article without necessarily having to share the entire item/article. I don't see a way to do this with JFBConnect but it would be a nice feature.
The JFBCSocialShare module is what you're looking for. There's an option to have the module in a "Floating" position, vs fixed. When floating, you can specify where on the page it should show and whether it should be horizontal or vertical. Then, just place it in a module position on the page and it should appear floating instead of in that position.I had also asked about having the JFBConnect share buttons visible at all times, even if the user scrolls down the item/article? I see the option for having the buttons at the top or the bottom of an item/article but I don't see an option for the buttons to stay stationary while the user scrolls through the item/article. I notice that on this forum, as I am writing this, there is a share button bar at the bottom left of the screen. When I scroll through the forum pages, this social button bar stays stationary and visible. Where do I find the settings to do this? Will these buttons work like this in K2 items/articles?
Yes! JFBConnect automatically sets up the proper tags on your page to let any admin of your Facebook App see all the comments for your site. You can see the Facebook Comment Moderation tool at the site below:1. Is there an option for the Admin to see all comments left through JFBConnect Comments similar to K2 comments? With K2, I can go to Components, then K2, and select "Comments." This results in a page with all comments left in all K2 Comment sections of all K2 items/articles. Is there anything similar for JFBComments?
That's only available to administrators of your Facebook App. You will see those options if you are logged into Facebook.com, even if you're not logged into your Joomla site. If you aren't logged into Facebook.com, you (or normal guests) won't see them.2. My second question is about the "Moderation Tool." Apparently, the end user can see this "Moderation Tool?" It seems like this should be restricted to the Administrator or moderators only? I see there are options to "Hide" comments or to "Ban" the author. I would not want the "Public" users to be able to do either. The JFBConnect Comments would be useless if any end user has options of hiding items/articles or banning authors.
