When I use the JFBConnect, I get errors that I cannot seem to track down. Website address is www.watchawear.com. It pulls wrong images, or there are errors, or no image, or wrong one and never the description from the page. I included a snapshot for part of the problem.

The second image... My CSS seems to have gone crazy. This happened with the install of JFB Connect. It seems to have broken my front-end editing also, when I edit a module now and save/close, it takes the slash out of the url following the .com. Any ideas?

So how do I force 1 image to the home page, let all other pages with images pull the image from the page the visitor is on. I can get one or the other. When I define image in graph, it goes to every page. When I remove it, I have even more display errors that seem to either break the Google image display or the Facebook.

When you use the Open Graph "Defaults" box in the JFBConnect configuration area, that will set a default image to be used on all pages of your site. JFBConnect will set it as a lower priority image though, so any other images that are set by JFBConnect (either automatically or manually by yourself) should be used first.

To set an image for a specific page, you need to use an Easy Tag, like:
{SCOpenGraph image=http://yoursite.com/link-to-image.jpg}
You can insert that in an articles contents, a custom HTML module, your template or any other position.

As for the image errors you're getting above, the error message is pretty descriptive. The image your using has a space in it's name. The internet in general and Facebook specifically doesn't like using images that have spaces in the filename. You'll need to re-upload and insert the image into the page using a filename without a space.

If there are other errors you're getting, just let me know what they are and we'll gladly help investigate.

Thanks,
Alex

I just noticed this last part:

I don't think this is related to JFBConnect. Can you please disable the JFBCSystem plugin, which will disable all JFBConnect functionality, and test if you have the same issue. If the problem persists, then it means JFBConnect is not the cause. If the problem goes away, let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

OK, thank you.
What I have done is to manage to get everything working very close to what I want to see.
Here is what remains:
The site is a repository consisting of user uploads into 4 categories.

While in the Download section,
-when someone clicks the Google+ recommend button, the image, title and URL all display correctly, but it does not display the description. I just need the description to show.
-The FaceBook Share button, now shows the way I want, with title, page image and page description and formatted well.

Then when we go to the home page of the site,
Google Plus pulls everything, and Facebook does too, but in both cases, the image is huge in Google+ and huge but clipped in FaceBook. I would like to set an image for only the home page if possible that fits facebooks wide format
So... right now I can't seem to figure out how to get those scenarios corrected.

However, When using your Social Check, I get low scores for no set OG Image. Facebook site complains too when I rescrub. But when I set one, every page gets the same image and description.

I disconnected and the formatting problem went away completely. Front end editing resumed.

I can't really tell what problems you're still having after the posts above, but I'll try to answer.

For the home page, please see my post above about the {SCOpenGraph image=link-to-image.jpg} tag. That will set it for only the pages that tag displays on. Just make sure it's on your home page.

For the image size on Google+ vs Facebook, there's not much we can do there. They both take the same og:image value and each will try to resize and crop however they see fit to work in their social streams. We can't force them to display it in the same format. My only recommendation is to use large images so that each social network can choose what it thinks is best for cropping.

I hope that helps, but if not, please let us know what specific issues you're still running into and what you've tried from what I recommended above.

Thanks,
Alex

OK. What I have going on I would like to change/correct is:

While a visitor is in the Download section,
-when someone clicks the Google+ recommend button, the image, title and URL all display correctly in the share box, but it does not display the page description. I just need the description to show.
-The FaceBook Share button, shows the title, page image and page description.

Next, the images of the oddly formatted Front-end editing Tool-Tip from above. When I disabled the JFBConnect plugin as you suggested, the Tool-Tip returned to normal, and when I saved an edited module, it redirected correctly. When enabling the plugin again, the problem returns. The formatting is very strange ... plus when I try to edit and save, it returns me to the correct URL, missing the "/" after the .com in the return url.

If I add the "{SCOpenGraph image=link-to-image.jpg} tag." somewhere only in my home page, I will get the image I choose and the sites meta description... correct? Where would I place the code to acheive that?

Thank-you for your assistance. I am grateful. Once I get the hang of this, It is more than I hoped for actually.Really nice work!

Please post a link to your download page that we can see to test with. I'm not sure what's going on here. Please note, if the page is not public (needs registration to view), then Facebook or Google will not be able to scan it to see the content of the page.

I'm not sure what's going on here. We may need to get super admin access to your site so we can test the front-end editing functionality and understand what's going on. Can you please Private Message me admin credentials? You can PM me by clicking the mail icon under my name to the left.

If I add the "{SCOpenGraph image=link-to-image.jpg} tag." somewhere only in my home page, I will get the image I choose and the sites meta description... correct? Where would I place the code to acheive that?

Yes, that tag will only set the image. You can override other Open Graph tags if you want to, like {SCOpenGraph title=My better title}, but that's up to you if you want to do that. As for placing the code, it needs to be in any place that will show on your home page, as noted above: "You can insert that in an articles contents, a custom HTML module, your template or any other position. "

I hope that helps,
Alex
