Hi

I posted a new article on my site today:
driver2driver.me/prod/cars/compare/item/...llac-cts-vsport-2015

But I am unable to share it on facebook, this is displayed at the bottom of my page on the site and FB debigger is giving me 503

Warning: driver2driver.me/prod/cars/compare/item/...llac-cts-vsport-2015 is unreachable.

Additional information:
1- My older pages on the site are working fine
2- This error happened sometime last week with another page I posted then, but it went away a few hours later on its own
3- For your info I created a number of additional test pages today, they are all giving the same error w FB
4- DNS Lookup shows that my page is responding fine and has no problems
5- The problem is with facebook only and on the new pages(s) only

I need your help please.

Thanks!

Whenever you create a new page, Facebook will show that error until it's successfully scanned the page. That will happen automatically within a few hours or days. You can also click the white link in that "Unreachable" box, which will bring you to:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...llac-cts-vsport-2015

That page will scan your site and include it in Facebook's checks. It should also make the issue go away.

If you're interested in sharing your content, you can also use the Social Debug website. It will also get your page indexed in Facebook and give you an idea of what the page will look like if shared across many different social networks.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

It seems that socialdebug.com has done the trick.
But FB debugger is still showing 503.
Let us hope it is a temporary issue.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure where the 503 error is coming from. I tried running your page through the Debug Tool and saw 200 codes (correct) most of the time, but saw a 503 a few times. I'm not sure why your site is responding with the 503 codes every once in a while, but it's not something that JFBConnect would be doing. To investigate further, you'd need to look at your Apache access and error logs to determine what's happening.

Either way, once the 200 code appears, it means Facebook has seen your page and the warning on your site will go away. So, either use the Debug Tool or Social Debug until things seem to work properly.

Best of luck,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

By the way do you know why Social Debug is showing F for Twitter?
The minimum Twitter meta tags were not set for this page

How do I fix that?

Cheers

Twitter card tags should be set automatically if you're using JFBConnect v6.0.0 or higher. Can you let me know what release you're using?

Thanks,
Alex

5.1.2
Should I upgrade?
Do I just install over the existing installation?
Cheers

We always recommend using the latest release. Upgrading is meant to be a simple process. Just download the latest from our site and install it using the Joomla installation manager. JFBConnect will automatically upgrade and keep your settings. You don't need to uninstall first.

As always, we recommend making a backup first and checking that all functionality works as expected when you are done.

I hope that helps, but if you have any questions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex

I have installed the latest release of JFBC, it went without a glitch. I have to say that this product is so predictable and thank you for that.
And now Social Debug tells me that my twitter set up s 100%. It even shows that my twitter posts will show the images.
But when I try to post from the site, I still do not get the images in twitter.

Is there something else I need to do to fix that?

Awaiting your guidance.

Thanks

Before you can use the Twitter Cards feature to actually show the snippets in a tweet, you need get Twitter's approval. It's very easy:
* Go to Invalid consumer key/secret in configuration
* Select the "Summary" card
* Click the "Validate & Apply" tab
* Enter any URL from your site
* Make sure it passes the tests and then submit for approval.

Approvals can be anywhere from instant to about 48 hours.

I hope that helps get you going!
