Forgive me as I'm a newbie and I don't know if this has been asked before. I'm using Joomla 2.5 and the latest version of JFBConnect.

How do you hide Facebook's Like button and show only the Share button?

Second question, how do you create a custom Share Message for each Facebook Share button which should be different messages for each page as you are liking the page as itself and not the whole site as one?

Thanks and more power.

No problem for the question, that's what we're here for!

I'm assuming you're using the JFBConnect -> Social configuration area to configure the buttons that are shown on the articles. I just looked there and realized there is no method to disable the Like button. In 2 years of having that configuration area, where many options have been added, we apparently never implemented a way to turn off the Like button.. only to configure the other social buttons.

If that is how you're configuring the sharing features and you want just the Share button (or at least the Share and anything else configurable but *not* the Like button), let me know. We'll gladly work out the minor code change necessary to hide the Like button for you and replace it with the share button. We also have a task in our to-do list now to add an option to disable the Like button.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that's currently what I'm aiming for, be able to hide the Facebook Like button (and show only the Share button and its configurables) as our current client doesn't want to display the like button (yet). I tried some newbie CSS but nothing's working. I'd be glad if you could send me some code to work this out. At this early stage I'm already a die-hard fan of JFBConnect so I'm sure to use it on all our future projects. It would be a great help if you guys will add the hide/show Like button on a future update, especially for newbies like me.

For my second question in my previous post, I saw some custom codes for the Facebook Share button where one can customize the Share message in the popup when the Share button if clicked. How does one do this with JFBConnect? Or did Facebook remove this feature already?

Thanks, as always, and more power!
