Hello,
Just saw your Youtube video on how to use opengraph. In there, you have an example of post to FB when a user 'vote' on a joomla article.

I am running Jreview 2.4. Am curious to know whether there is a way to enable Joomla's default article voting feature in Jreview listing?

This way, I can use JFBconnect's opengraph feature as shown in the video.

Thanks
Mark

Mark,
I'm honestly not sure about using the Joomla voting feature in a JReviews listing. That's something you may want to contact the JReviews developers to see if they know how best to do that. If so, then you should definitely be able to use the voting button for Open Graph actions.

We're actually planning more integration with JReviews for other 'actions' to be posted to a user's Timeline. Right now, we mainly just support reviews. We have a request from another user for posting an action when the 'Favorite' button is clicked, and have some other ideas of our own. So, over the next few months, we should have an updated Open Graph - JReviews plugin that does more stuff. If you have suggestions on actions you'd like posted, definitely let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the prompt reply.

1) thanks for incorporating the Jreview asks. In the mean time, I thought there is a way to insert code ourselves to make any action to be posted on FB correct?

You can create any custom buttons you want and tie them to a Facebook Action you've created. If the button you want to use is already in the extension (like a "Vote" button for content), then you would likely need an Open Graph plugin to 'hook' into that action that already exists.

Let me know whether you want to create your own button or hook into a button that is already provided by JReviews or Content.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thank you for you suggestion.
But I am still a little confusing. If I want to set up Open Graph for Joomla voting feature, do I need to write some code to achieve it? Or it already exist on Open Graph plugin? I am sorry that I not very clear about what you mentioned that "you would likely need an Open Graph plugin to 'hook' into that action that already exists". I already install Open Graph plugin, does it mean I can set up on the configuration without any extra code?
Besides, do I need to set up the action and subject in facebook app first?

Thank you!
Mark

Mark,
The answer comes down to what extension are you using to "Vote"? Are you using Joomla Content's "Vote" feature that is part of it's articles, or something else?

If you are using an extension that we already have Open Graph Action support for (like Joomla Content for the Voting feature), then you wouldn't need any code.

In all cases, you will need to add the "vote" action in your Facebook Developer Area as well as the "object" of whatever is being voted on. Then, just plug those values into the Open Graph area of JFBConnect.

So, let us know how you plan on the voting to work: Joomla's Article's Voting, another extension's "voting" feature, or something you want to code on your own, and we'll gladly help answer more specifically.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Yes I use Joomla Content for the Voting feature.
I created a new story on my facebook app. I created an action type name "Vote" and selected a subject type "Article" from facebook app object list. After that I went to JFB open graph configuration, added a new object name "Article" which I chosen Joomla content Article type, and selected Built-In Facebook Object. Also I added a new action type name "Vote", which I chosen Joomla content Vote type.
After I set up all of these above, I went to vote a article, but nothing posted on facebook app owner's timeline.
Are these steps right?
Thanks!

For the Vote Action you setup in JFBConnect, make sure you have the following settings:
* It is *not* a Facebook Built-in Object
* You have associated the Vote action with your Article Object
* On the right side for Trigger type, set it to "Manual", not automatic

Also, make sure both the object and action are published.

That should work. If not, can you check the Activity Log in JFBConnect and see if anything appears in the log related to this action?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex, I did all settings you mentioned above.
After I voted a article, I can see the action "Published" in Activity Log. See below:

File Attachment:

But this activity still not posted on FB timeline.

Can you look in the "Activity Log" on Facebook to see if the item is listed there? You can access that from the button in the bottom right area of your cover photo.

The Activity Log is where all activity posted on your behalf should show. All activity doesn't always go on your Timeline. That's up to Facebook based on different social factors.

Thanks,
Alex
