Hi,

The JFBConnect Overview tab shows "JomSocial - FB Wall" with the status "Installed, but not enabled", but it actually is enabled under joomla plugin manager.

Is that supposed to be this way? I've attached some pics to better clarify. I'm using the latest versions of both JFBConnect and JomSocial .

Nope. Completely unsure why that's happening, but we'll look into our code to see if we're checking the status of that wrong.

That check isn't a 'functional' check at all though, so it shouldn't prevent things from working. Basically, I'd go into that JomSocial - FB Wall plugin, configure it how you want, and test. If it works, great.. just disregard that icon on the Overview page. If not, then maybe something is wrong.

Hope that helps, and keep us posted. Would love to know if it's functional even with that screwy icon.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply.

It is pushing my JomSocial public updates to Facebook, but not importing my facebook status updates upon login. Everything seems to be configured to allow both ways...

David,
If the JomSocial public updates are being pushed to Facebook, that means the JFBConnect - JomSocial Activity plugin is working. That plugins sole purpose is to 'push' updates.

If you want status to be imported, you'll need to install and enable the JFBConnect Profiles - JomSocial plugin. In the "Profiles" area of JFBConnect is where you can configure how the user's information (avatar, profile, and status) are imported from Facebook into JomSocial.

So, it sounds like it's just a graphical bug with the icon. We'll look into it, but for now, I wouldn't worry about it. If you need help with the importing though, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

I'd like some help with the importing issue. Sent you a PM providing backend and ftp access.

Thanks.

I think I've figured out what's happening. Is there a way to import the facebook status on every login but all other fields only at the registration?

David,
Right now, it would take a decent amount of code changes to just make the status import work on login, but none of the other importing. With the upcoming v5.0 release later this month, it will still take a code change, but it will be very minor and easy to do. If you can wait about 2 weeks, I'd recommend doing that and just posting back here when the release is available.

If the status import on login is critical now, we can help you make the changes necessary to get you going sooner.

We're hoping (likely in the 5.1 release) to up the avatar, profile, and status import option to be "On Register", "On Login", or "Never" instead of the current Yes/No settings. That will be a lot more flexible for you, and others who want more control.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Alex,

Of course I can wait, this isn't a critical requirement. I'm excited to know that a new JFBConnect is being cooked, can we have a sneak peak on the upcoming features ? :)

David,
There's always another JFBConnect in the works :) To be honest though, the 5.0 release isn't a terribly exciting release. It's going to drop support for Joomla 1.5 and add support for Joomla 3.0. That comes with a huge code cleanup, which we're excited to implement. Additionally, the new release will have a completely new profile plugin system. All the features will pretty much be the same, but it will be much easier to develop new profile integration features going forward. The new "Social Profile Plugins" will also be cross-compatible with JLinked and will make it much, much easier to create other social networking integrations (mainly Twitter and Google) in the future.

So, no huge features, though some improvements and bug-fixes, and a more solid foundation for future features.

Hope that explains, even if it's not terribly exciting :)

Thanks for your patience,
Alex

Got it.

Sometimes we must do what is necessary. Certainly those new foundations will speed up development and it means new features in the near future :)

Keep the good work!
