Hi, I have your component working on our website with great success, it posts a link of an uploaded picture to the users Facebook timeline. And I realize that your component is a different animal completely than the Default Jomsocial Facebook Connect plugin.

That being said, we have a phone App designed by iJoomer that uses the default Jomsocial Facebook connect to allow users to login. And it seems that when a users does this on the phone App, that even though they are logged into the site with Facebook their photo uploads are not being posted to their timeline. I am guessing that we will have to integrate, if possible, the login version of your component on the phone App.

Just wanted to get your ideas on this and see if maybe I am missing something simple.

Yes, you'd need to use JFBConnect for authentication. To post an action for the user, we need an authentication token, correct permissions, and lots of other stuff that we do. JomSocial's Facebook integration is good, but basic. We can't just hook into what they do and extend it for many reasons.

So, longer story short, yeah, you'll need to use us. The good news is that using JFBConnect in place of JomSocial is pretty easy. We have a Facebook integration for JomSocial guide and you can import any previous connections from JomSocial into JFBConnect, so your users won't have to re-connect or anything. Additionally, our automatic user creation is excellent for mobile since there's no forms to fill out to register.

Hope that helps get you started, but if you have any other questions just let us know.

Also, very glad to hear that you're using Open Graph Actions. We worked on that for many, many months to make it as easy as it is (even though it's still more complex than we like). It gives us a huge warm, fuzzy feeling hearing when people are using it :)

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated:

Best of luck,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

Yes, this is great info to get us started. I am forwarding the info along to our iPhone developers to see what they think.

We have only started using opengraph and will be using it a lot more extensively. We really love what it can do! Great job! I'll make a not to review on Joomla for you!

Aloha,
Andy

Andy,
Glad to hear we could help explain and get you on the right path.

Open Graph is very exciting stuff, and we're happy to see a lot of users really starting to get it integrated. It's definitely a good feature (for us) and great for promotion (for you). Please keep us posted on anything interesting you do with it as we'd love to hear from our users on how it works out, any recommendations you may have, or anything else that may help us improve in the future.

Finally, we'd love that review.. and have a great day!
Alex
