Hi,

Thanks for the new 4.3 release!!! How do we setup Open Graph with JomSocial. Is there a tutorial somewhere, I couldn't find one.

I think I see how to add the Action on the JFBconnect component, but am not sure how to set it up in Facebook. I am trying to setup an JomSocial Image Upload Action.

The documentation is on the page below:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/open-graph/

We're still working on it, so there are definitely some errors, omissions and oddities, but it should really help you through a good chunk of the process. I'll be posting that link in the Announcements areas (at the top of the forum) shortly as well.

Any feedback you have would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

OK, I accidentally submitted the Facebook App before testing. Woops, got a little trigger happy. But we are not live yet anyway. Then when I tried to upload a picture, the Activity Failed, I got an Error in the Activity Log.

The FB Message Error was: Unknown path components: /Read

So, I am thinking either it is because it is not Approved yet, or I set up the actions/object wrong.
I am using the Jomsocial "Album Image Upload" for the Action and the Jomsocial "Photo Album" for the Object. So on FB I used Read/Article.

It would be nice to have some examples of how to set up the available options in the JomSocial plugin, I am not sure what to call them in FB or if I need to use the Built-In Facebook Action/Object

Also, I am assuming I need to honor the case in the FBAction/Object; ie: Read/Article

Thanks

Hehe.. no problem about submitting. We need to clarify the steps more first to not submit.. and a lot of other cleanup in our documentation. Facebook will likely deny it, just so you know. We'll be working on the Submit for Test section of the document this weekend. Also, for your information, when you do submit, at the top, put a line like "This action is implemented by JFBConnect for the Joomla CMS". That will help with the approval process as they know a bit about our extension, which will help them fill in any blanks your missing and also (in the long run) let them feedback any improvements to us that we can make. That will all be in the documentation :)

As for your issue, there's a few:
1) For the FB built-in read action, the action name is really "news.reads". I forgot we hadn't clarified how to see the real Facebook action for built-in types. It's convoluted, but will be updated in the guide soon.
2) For your action, you shouldn't even be doing a Read/Article. I would recommend creating a non-built-in Object type of just "gallery" or "album". Then, create an action of "upload". Then, in JFBConnect change your object and action to use those types and they are both *not* built-in FB types.

As for testing on your site, you can test with an admin at any point. All those actions should go in your Activity Log. Non-admins will *not* have the action posted for them until approval. So, you need to test with your admin, see the post and then submit.

Finally, we'll be updating the config guide a lot as we get more feedback. Sorry if you feel like a guinea pig. Once the guide is more complete, we'll be creating a few videos with examples of how to setup a Image Upload, Join Group, Easy Blog Read, etc that should be good examples for any of the others.

It's definitely a bit confusing, but we wouldn't be willing to take on the support if we didn't think it's going to be an awesome feature for our users.

Really hope that helps, and please don't get frustrated. Should you need anything else, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

This is great info. Thank You...and No, I don't mind being a guinea pig at all, I am Happy to help and really appreciate you getting this out as quickly as you did. I'll keep you posted, and be in touch if I need any help. How long does the FB Approval?deny Process usually take?

Glad we can help and really appreciating the feedback. I just updated the How to Submit page. No pictures, but (hopefully) lots of good info:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/open-graph/actions/

As for approval times, you'll get a notice when the action is submitted. It's usually about 3 days though, but that can fluctuate.

Best of luck!
Alex

Got the test working! Awesome. I cancelled my submission and will use your new tutorial to submit it correctly, but before I do that I have one question. In the layout of the Action (see attached screenshot-wait i dont see a way to upload an image, do i have to upload my screenshot to a server and then post a link?),...I'll try to describe it, The icon for our App Logo is very small, it appears to the left of the info in the FB Action o my Timeline, how can I change that to be larger? In the App on Facebook I can see the area to upload different size icons, and I have done that. Am I missing something?

One more Question:
In the submission directions you say:
Mention the name of the Test User you created to test with (that they will likely test with as well)
I tested by logging in with JFB connect, and it automatically logs me in with my FB account. I didn't create a test user....just used my personal. Is this the info I give FB when submitting? My personal FB account info? Or should I create a fake FB account for testing?

Thanks
