We have an issue with both FB Like and FB Share buttons not working in JFBC. This is a similar problem on multiple websites where we use JFBC, not just any one site in particular.

We have all current production websites still running J2.5.11 with JFBC v6.4.2 installed. (We are in-process of establishing a clean install of J3.4.x for each customer, but in the mean time are still running J2.5.11 for their production instances, fyi).

2 problems exist in each of our J2.5.11 instances that are running JFBC v6.4.2:

1). the FB Like and Share buttons yield no response at all when clicking on them; this is same for all our production websites.
2). If we try to manually install the latest JFBC v6.5.1 package, we are getting server errors as per the attached image below.

What should we do to fix the functionality of all the J2.5.11 sites so they will work until we can productionize the new J3.4.x sites for each customer?

If you can provide a URL to one site where the Like or Share buttons aren't working, we'll gladly try to investigate that issue further.

The 500 error is likely due to your use of Joomla 2.5.11. Unfortunately, we don't support such an older version of Joomla 2.5. I'm not sure what issues would arise from using that version, but there have been a huge amount of bug and security fixes in the 17 sub-releases from 2.5.11 up to 2.5.28. There's little we could do easily to determine and fix the 500 error because my immediate suspicion is that you're running into an issue with Joomla itself that would need to be fixed.

If you upgrade to 2.5.28 (or even something as recent as 2.5.22, which we know has all the updates we need), and still run into that issue, we should be able to help get you going from there.

Unfortunately, we're stuck using J2.5.11 on these production instances until we roll out the brand new J3.4 instances, so need to get these functional for a few months while we're working on the new sites using J3.4. Thanks for your help Alex!

Regarding the FB Likes, I just went to a page and clicked the Like button at top. Below is what happens. It seems to work for me. If that's not what's happening for you, can you try from different accounts or different browsers to try and narrow things down some?

As for the 500 error, I really don't think our latest versions will install on such an old version of Joomla or that you'd want too. There's multiple updated and improved APIs within Joomla that JFBConnect expects to have installed. Unless you have more details about the specific 500 error you're getting (from the PHP logs, for example), I wouldn't really try to force the latest JFBConnect into Joomla 2.5.11.

You're exactly right...all social buttons work normally except in Chrome. When using Chrome, all the social buttons work normally except the FB Like and Share buttons. Even changing the Chrome security settings to "allow all popups" and "run all plugins" doesn't fix the issue with the FB buttons not working. Any suggestions on this?

Also, as far as the Error 500 goes when we try to update JFBC to the latest version on our J2.5.11 installs...I hear you loud and clear. We can live with using the older version of JFBC, for now. So, the only issue we have is likely with Chrome settings...which means we never really had any issues with JFBC in the first place. Thanks for your help and apologies for the dis-connection on our issue!

Not sure why Chrome would do that. Make sure you don't have any Chrome add-ons that block social networks (some meant for additional privacy or to prevent tracking will block social networks as well). That's the most common reason the sharing features wouldn't show. Other than that, I'd recommend testing another computer. My image above was from Chrome, so it's not that way for everyone.

Hello,
In my articles in joomla 2.5.28 and JFBConnect 6.5.3, the buttons like and share the facebook in top article not work. Twitter and G+ its work.
why?

In the JFBConnect -> Social -> Content Plugin - Like section, please remove the width parameter. I believe the "%" is causing the problem. If you want to specify a width, please do it in px.

I hope that helps. If you continue to have issues though, please post in a new thread as this issue isn't really related to the original poster's question.
