If your account was already registered with your Facebook application, it probably does not have the correct permissions. Try this:

* Go log in to Facebook.
* Go to Account -> Application Settings.
* Find your Application and click Edit Settings.
* Click the Additional Permissions tab.
* Check "Publish to streams".

When a new user signs up or accepts your application from now on, they are prompted to allow this permission. Any existing users, however, are not prompted. We are looking at adding a feature in the next version that will allow you to set a flag to prompt users the next time they log in if they have not accepted the additional permissions.

You can also test hooking up your Facebook account again (like a new user would experience) by deleting your application on the Application Settings page by clicking the X on the right. Once you've done this, you should get the Facebook pop-up asking to allow your application access to your information again the next time you log into your site.

Is there a way or is this something that maybe in the next release where you can post your status on Facebook and it post to Jomsocial status?

I have poured over the application page in Facebook and nowhere can I find an "additional permissions" tab. I went into edit settings and there is no additional permissions tab in there, nor anywhere else that I can find. Please give direction here as to how to enable activity stream in both directions. This is the key item for which I purchased this today.

Mike,

I don't think you need to change anything at the application level on Facebook. The Additional Permissions are just something users can set to either allow or deny access to write to their walls. The instructions above were to help people who are testing JFBConnect on their website to help them try different scenarios over and over.

All you should need to do is go to the Status/Wall Settings tab in Components -> JFBConnect -> Configuration in your Joomla! site's backend, make sure Update Status Message is set to Yes and type in the messages you want to be displayed when a user logs in and when they sign up.

If you have issues, create a new post on these forums and I will help you out.

Thanks

@virtualbiz4u,

Currently, JFBConnect doesn't provide any way to update JS status along with Facebook status. We are investigating being able to update Facebook status when a user updates their JS status. We will put this on the list of things to investigate as well.

Thanks

Ok, but I based my purchase on this statement on the Sourcecoast page for the extension:

New: Send a message the user's wall on registration or log in. Great for promoting your site!

Is this possible? Right now it isn't working. If this is possible then I need to know what to do in order to get it working. I have it set to Yes in the config but it is not getting posted on FB. If not, is there a time frame for implementation as this would be great advertising.

The status updates work for new users that connect to your site. Current users need to update their Additional Permissions on Facebook. We have implemented changes in JFBConnect 3.0.0 that will allow you to request permissions for existing users on your site as well. We have all the changes implemented and just need to test more before releasing it to the public.

You should be able to update the Additional Permissions for your Facebook account using the information in this post so you can see the status being updated on your wall when you log in.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Hi

Having trouble myself on this

1. After initial installation login updates were being posted to FB
2. Mapped fields were not imported into CB (I already had an account - will this be the problem there?)
3. After installation of Invite friends - photo stopped uploading although I've think I've now sussed this in that the picture will not upload to login on the same page as the invite - Is this the way it is expected to work?
4. Again following the Invite friends login updates are no longer posted to FB?

I've spent all day on this going over all the configurations and am making no progress - please advise

You can take a look at [url:v5mk3jgr]http://www.dancebooker.co.uk[/url:v5mk3jgr]

I have it set to go to the friend invite page once connect is activated

1. After initial installation login updates were being posted to FB

That is good. What all did you install/configure between then and when things stopped working?

2. Mapped fields were not imported into CB (I already had an account - will this be the problem there?)

There is a setting to "Always Import Profile Data". When this is set to Yes, it will import every time the user logs in. If it's not set to Yes, it will only import when the user originally signs up. I just signed up as wlrdq. See if my data imported correctly. You can also delete your User Map and reconnect your account to import the data, I believe.

3. After installation of Invite friends - photo stopped uploading although I've think I've now sussed this in that the picture will not upload to login on the same page as the invite - Is this the way it is expected to work?

This is not the way it should work, I don't think. I can't tell if my photo got imported because I can't get to My Profile page because I have not been approved by a moderator. If you can approve me, I will check it out.

4. Again following the Invite friends login updates are no longer posted to FB?

It looks like status was posted to my wall when I signed up:
[url:6lrumpn5]http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1376670284[/url:6lrumpn5]

5. I noticed that my signup confirmation letter did not include a confirmcode. All I got was this:
[url:6lrumpn5]http://www.dancebooker.co.uk/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=confirm&confirmcode=[/url:6lrumpn5]
I think someone else has asked about this on these forums. I will try to search and see what solution we came up with (if any).

Let me know what you find.
