problem 1 solved : I have removed the 500 error i reported by following the posts on this board, prefixing canvas and connect urls with www.

problem 2 solved : The component error is also gone and all plugins are there and working just by reordering the plugin exectuion order

problem 4 solved : upon pressing the FB connect button my web page I get a window popup with the following message, but this was solved simply by waiting 3 hours (for some reason)

You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

problem 5 is open ! The connect box is taking me to an application and not facebook groups page i want. I want a message to be posted each time a user registers but this doesnt happen, partly because the connect button tries to post to an application and not a groups page - how do I fix this /

I'm not sure if I'm missing another post, but I don't know which problems lined up with which problem numbers.

What is Problem 3?

Problem 5: I don't know much about the Groups vs Applications pages. Can you associate a Group page with an Application page? When a user registers, it should post a message to their wall. I don't know if it posts anything to the Application or Group.

If you can give me more info, I will try to help.

Thanks

Hi, Here is the problem I have, you can ignore the rest of the post (its just to what I have already tried):

What I want to do is have a user to my site register and login via facebook to the site. When they register to the site I want a joomla and community builder profile to be created and import their facebook profile. I also want a message to be posted to my group (british alumni singapore) that they have joined or at least to their wall.

I have a website with the fb connect button : alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com
a facebook application to provide the api and secret key, canvas link etc: british Alumni Singapore Network
a facebook group which is tied to the site using the facebook 'become a fan widget': british alumni singapore

What I get is when someone registers they are asked to log into my application (british alumni singapore network) and i don't see anything posted on my application or group (british alumni singapore) wall or on the registrants wall. Whilst the joomla and CB profile is created I also don't see their facebook profile details imported. I also dont get my content appear in my joomla site as it would if they logged-in without the facebook connect button - it's as if using he facebook connect button bypasses the community builder information.

Best way to see this is to try and register. The temporary location of the site is :

alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com

I will register later today and see what I can figure out. Most of what you are asking for should currently be available. I don't think the posting to the group's wall functionality is there, yet, but we can investigate that as well.

I'll let you know what I find.

I just registered on your site and a new message was written to my status:
[url:21qzsm94]http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1376670284[/url:21qzsm94]

One strange thing I noticed is that I was redirected to this URL after registering:
[url:21qzsm94]http://www.alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com/[/url:21qzsm94]

I don't know what caused that, but hopefully you can find a fix or when you go to your live site it shouldn't be an issue.

There is currently a restriction with permissions and posting to the walls of users that have already accepted your FB application. I am going to write up a sticky post explaining it now and will post a link to it back here once I'm done.

Take a look at this sticky post and let me know if it works:

Yes i see the posting on your wall, good

> One strange thing I noticed is that I was redirected to this URL after registering: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com/">www.alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com/
Yes I see thats due to the setting in the facebook canvas URL, I think

>I don't know what caused that, but hopefully you can find a fix or when you go to your live site it shouldn't be an issue.
I think this is the intended thing to happen

>There is currently a restriction with permissions and posting to the walls of users that have already accepted your FB application. I am going to write up a sticky post explaining it now >and will post a link to it back here once I'm done.
Yes I see the note and am ok with that setting

NOW there is still some outstanding matter
i) as mentioned the facebook is not imported to the sites community builder component, as it is meant to do ? Specifically there is not contact information or photo, neither fromt he profiel youregistered or the one I registered

ii) when you or I registered a new commuity builder user is created with privileged of registered. However when I login using this user using joomla login i get the menus appear which are specified to appear for registered users. BUT when I login using JFBConnect I dont get those menus. Please try. THe menu is the user menu on the left hand side of the screen.

i) Just to make sure, I assume you have Enable Community Builder Integration set to Yes in the JFBConnect configuration? Let me know what the other CB settings are set to in JFBC.

ii) I assume this is because you are on both alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com and <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com">www.alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com. When you log in, it's setting up cookies for one but not the other. I think if you get it setup so you only stay on one, it should work like you want.

You can always test if you are logged into your Joomla! site by going to:
[url:1mfqgbq3]http&#58;//alumni.dragonjadejewelry.com/index.php?option=com_user&view=user&task=edit[/url:1mfqgbq3]

Let me know if you get it figured out or need more help.

I'm still stuck. I cant get the facebook data imported into CB. The only imported item from FB is the profile photo.

me: I tested using <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.alumni.dragojadejewelry.com">www.alumni.dragojadejewelry.com and i made sure past cookies were cleared. I tested using existing CB users connecting them to FB. And then using FB connect to create a new joomla CB user.So whilst it can login using FB username and does create a new user the details are not imported from FB.[attachment=0]jfbc backend
