We run a news site over at http://www.sciencewa.net.au/ with the JFBC plugin for people to post comments, but we just noticed recently that even though we have the comments in Facebook moderation as being posted, they are not actually displayed on the news article pages.
You can see an example on this news article, which does have comments but does not show them on the page: http://www.sciencewa.net.au/topics/envi … perts.html
There's a few possible causes for why they wouldn't display, and most are very easy to fix. However, we'd need a little more information about your site:
* What version of JFBConnect are you using?
* What version of Joomla 1.5 are you using?
* Did you ever have Facebook Comments enabled using a different extension other than JFBConnect?
Finally, please post from the account you subscribed to JFBConnect from. Priority support is for active subscribers only.
Posting on the subscribed account as requested.
To answer your questions:
*The version of JFBConnect we are using is 4.2.0
*We are using Joomla 1.5.26
*As far as I am aware we have always used JFBConnect for our commenting system.
v4.2.0 of JFBConnect is almost a year old now and not there have been multiple changes to JFBConnect to ensure compatibility with constant changes in Facebook's interface. The current release of JFBConnect is v4.3.4, released in early January.
With that said, I look at your page, and I'm not sure of any reason the comments would dissappear. I see comments on the page you linked too. I don't know which ones (or how many) are missing. The only thing I can see that may be an issue is that your page can be reached at both www. and non-www. Those are 2 different URLs in Facebook's eyes, and could have separate comments for each. However, when I go to the non-www version, I don't see any comments there either.
So, my suggestions would be:
* Go to the FB Comments Moderation Tool and check what comments show there and where they seem to be posted. Maybe that will give you some clues as to what's happening:
* Upgrade to a newer version of JFBConnect which will definitely fix some issues and have new features. However, we've never heard of this problem before, so I can't guarantee it will resolve this problem.
Hope that helps get you started,
It appears that the problem might have been linked to Firefox version 18. I applied a fix that was suggested from this thread, and it seems to have fixed the Facebook comments as well as the issues we were having with our front page: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f … p;t=785730
Thank you for the assistance, however! I will definitely update to the latest version.
Glad to hear you think you got it and hopefully, everything is resolved. We'd definitely look forward to having you as a subscriber again.
Thanks, and best wishes to you and your site,
