OK, Ive switch off sh404sef for the time being to get the jfbconnect component working. When i login with a facebook account and it brings across the info into jomsocial the user name is coming up in the format of name_223414. Is there a way to get around this? Or indeed prompt the user to input their own username?

Yeah, no way to allow the user to enter their own name for now. Just like everything, if that's requested a lot, that will work its way in eventually.

Please make sure that you use either the {rand} or {fbid} fields in the username to semi-guarantee uniqueness.
