Hi, I have JFBConnect and have had it for about a year and it has always worked fine. Just two or three days ago that has changed. When I click the "like" button at the bottom of an article it flashes like it's going to work, but then goes back to normal and says, "Be the first of your friends to like this." It is happening on all articles, but here is just one of them...

Please help

Not sure what happened, but I ran that page through the Facebook URL Debugger and the Like button works again. You may want to try with a few other of your pages and see if that helps those pages as well.

I don't know why that would be necessary, but we had another user report a similar issue where they needed to force Facebook to scan their pages recently as well. Did you change anything to your host, server, or Joomla configuration recently?

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the response Alex. It is still happening with new articles I am adding. The debug tool did make it work, but that's very strange and would obviously be a huge pain to have to do every time I post a new article. I haven't changed anything recently that I know of...let me talk with my partner and see if he's done anything. I will let you know. Thanks again

There's a bug report that we found with Facebook regarding this issue. Please see the forum post below which explains more and gives some recommendations on how to proceed:

Hope that helps,
Alex

Yup, we're hopeful it will be fixed soon. Until fixed, if you are having this problem, it looks like using the URL Debug Tool from Facebook is the only/best solution for having their scanner fetch your page properly.

If we learn about any other solution, we'll let you know.

Thanks,
Alex

There's been no changes between 4.2.3 (the old version you mention) and the newest version (4.2.5) that should change anything with the Like button.

The site you mention is a completely different domain, which the bug on Facebook only affects specific domains. It's not known why certain domains are affected and others aren't, but that is the more likely reason why it may work on your other site and not the new. Other factors are that it seems to only be for 'new' content. Is the Like button working on the site you link to above with content that's been there a while, or is that for a new Like button?

Also, if you still have the 4.2.3 installation package, feel free to 'downgrade' your site that isn't working and let us know how that goes. If that does fix the problem, it will definitely help us narrow things down, but from the reports we've seen, users with multiple versions of JFBConnect are affected.. it's not just the latest v4.2.5.

Ultimately, if you haven't already, we'd highly, highly recommend using the "Does this repro describe your issue?" link on the Facebook bug report and noting that your site(s) are affected. Mentioning JFBConnect doesn't hurt as it allows them to know the different types of integration methods that are affected as well.

We are doing investigation on our side, but there's nothing we've found that we can do to fix this problem.

Thanks,
Alex

Sorry, just saw that it does look to be the same domain. Is the link you pointed old content, or brand new? If it's brand new and working with the older JFBConnect, can you do the following:
* Save the full HTML output from your browser for that specific page
* Upgrade JFBConnect
* Make sure the button no longer works
* If so, save the full HTML output from that page again

Then, send us both copies and we can see what's different. If there's anything we have control over, we'll gladly look into it.

Thanks,
Alex
