A couple months ago, I asked a question about configuring "Like us on Facebook and get a discount coupon". After quite a bit of heartache, I have now obtained a SSL certificate (actually a UCC certicate) for my client. Believe me when I say, this was no easy feat. However, now that I'm cookin' with grease, I have some new, related questions.

First, the certificate was for domainname.com and not www.domainname.com. Will I need to add another SAN (Subject Alternative Name) to the UCC/SLL? Seems like I will need to do this, because I have been trying to edit JFBConnect to use domainname.com and it's not happy with omitting the www.

If I go to domainname.com I get reverted to www.domainname.com.

Will wait to ask other questions, as I believe jumping through this hoop is my first challenge.

Thanks!

Facebook can work with wildcard SSL certificates. Just put in the domain name without the www, and both the sub-domain (www) and root domain (non-www) will work. I'm not sure where you are saying you're editing JFBConnect or when you can't omit the www. If it's the Autotune application, that will take the URL you are using to login to the admin area and try to configure from there. The App Domain should still be without www, but the Site URL would include it in that case. The Site URL isn't really that important though, so with or without www on that, it should work.

With all that said, if you don't have a wildcard SSL certificate (one that can work across multiple sub-domains), that means that your SSL cert is tied to one specific variation of the domain (www or non-www). In that case, you should setup some sort of redirection to go from the www version to non-www (or vice verse). Generally, a redirect is recommended for other reasons as well, such as SEO, but that's a whole different story.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Ok, let me see if I have the concept down. I have been reading and re-reading this link: www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/facebook-page-canvas-setup

I already have an article ID that says something to the effect: Like us on Facebook and get a 25% discount. I see that article ID in JFBConnect under Page Tab/Canvas and then in the Application as Page Tab, as the Reveal Page Article Id.

Within the FB App, just for grins, I changed the Page Tab Name and saved those settings. I see that FB App as a Page, but when I click on it, I get "The Connection is Untrusted". I'm guessing I have missed something at the host with the UCC/SSL, but am not quite sure.

Do I create another Joomla article, the one that provides the discount code, and use it as the Page Tab URL?

Feels like I'm pretty close, but not quite there.
Thank you Alex!

Sounds like you got it right, but just to rephrase it all:
1) Create an article you want as the "Reveal Page" - This is what says "Like our page to get coupons", or something like that.
2) Create the Coupon article
3) In JFBConnect, set the Reveal Page ID to the ID for article #1 above
4) Set your Page Tab URL to the full URL that would display the article from #2 ensuring that the Secure Page Tab URL includes https

Once that's done, you need to make sure that you can go directly to the URL from #1 or #2 above with https. If you can go to that in a normal browser without any 'special' security certificates, then Facebook should be able to as well. If you need to do something 'special' in your browser to make those URLs work, that's not good. Localhost will not work (Facebook can't see your local machine).

If you still can't get it, please Private Message me the URLs for the Reveal and Page tab URLs that you think are right. That way we can test. You can PM me by clicking the arrow under my name (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

Hope that helps!

Will the JFB Facebook Login Module (SCLogin) work with loadposition?

Hehehe.. Yes, it works with loadposition. If you just want the Login with Facebook button, also consider the {JFBCLogin} tag which you can place anywhere in the output of a page.

Glad you're making progress on things, and if you need anything, just let us know!

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect, or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

Once you have everything configured, how do you test it? I have already "liked" this particular FB page. Find a friend to be the guinea pig?

I will definitely post a review of JFBConnect on the Joomla Extensions page.

Thanks a million Alex!
