I've read thru the forums as completely as I could - I have not yet found a solid answer to this problem:

With core or sh404SEF installed, the user reaches a 500 page when attempting to create a new account or link his/her existing Joomla account to their facebook account. The moment sh404SEF is turned off, all is well. I've tried turning sh404SEF off for JBFConnect and User to no effect.

Has this been answered elsewhere? It seems the answer should be easy. Where exactly (URL) does clicking the submit button to create a new linked account take the user (before it redirects)? With that knowledge, it should be easy to place a custom redirect in sh404SEF ensuring the proper URL is reached.

Can you post or PM me your URL so I can see what links are being generated and try to figure out the cause?

We test with built in Joomla SEF, and have worked hard to ensure compatibility with SH404 as well. I just enabled built in SEF on facebook.sourcecoast.com and don't see the error.. so we should be able to narrow it down quickly. The page that the demo site goes to for 'quick' registration is:

Can you try just hitting that page on your site to see if it shows the reg page? It will likely say "Hello Unknown!" or something like that.

The URL is <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.aboutimage.com">www.aboutimage.com

I just tried what you suggested (used the link you provided and replaced it with my own URL), and was immediately taken to a 500 error page. Which is strange, because I turned sh404sef OFF until we figure out this problem!!

Alright then, you're a prime candidate to let us debug on your site if you don't mind :)

Can you PM me (---->) an admin username/password that I can use to get on to the site? We usually only need to install NinjaXplorer so that we can modify some of our files. The site doesn't need to be taken down or anything, and it usually takes about 20 mins to get to the bottom of a problem.

Thanks for the PM. I tried to log in today, but was only a lowly Admin instead of Super Admin. This doesn't allow me to turn on built in SEF or install NinjaXplorer. Would you mind upgrading me? :D Thanks!

I just turned on Joomla SEF, and it seems to be working. Perhaps I'm crazy :) Let me know. I connected the account you created for me to a FB profile and also started the process of creating a new account (stopping at the 'quick' form, which I was able to see without error).

Let me know if this is/isn't working for you. If not, close your browser and try again. If still not, let me know the browser and version your using. I tried FF3 and IE7.

You're not crazy. It works :D But there IS a problem, and I've figured out what it is: As a test, I deleted the connection to my account in FBConnect, refreshed my browser cache, and tried to reconnect. 500 error. This is using the latest version of Mac Safari 3.2.3. Out of curiosity, I tried the same thing using FireFox. Worked like a charm. So it would appear the error is related to Safari, when SEF is turned on. <!-- s:cry: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt=":cry:" title="Crying or Very Sad" /><!-- s:cry: -->
