Hello,
I have virtuemart web site and I am using virtuemart login/register for customers, I am not using standart joomla login.
So, when a new customer comes to my web site, he sees login/register module/component of Virtuemart.
I installed JFBconnect component into my Virtuemart web site but when I use "Login with Facebook" button for a new customer registration, it asks for permission to connect to facebook, customer clicks "approve", it goes to welcome page, it displays facebook profile photo and user name but Virtuemart still displays login box, Virtuemart can not display user info, Virtuemart can not see that user has just logged in with this facebook profile.
Also, I need a turkish language pack for JFBconnect :( Which files do I need to edit or to create for turkish language & messages for JFBconnect?
Thanks!

That's very strange behavior, and I'm not sure why that is. Can you tell me if, after the user has registered through Facebook, if they click around to multiple pages, does Virtuemart ever detect that they are logged in? If they logout and log back in through JFBConnect, does it detect that they are logged in then? JFBConnect registers a 'normal' Joomla user and logs that user in. I'm not sure of any reason that Virtuemart wouldn't see them as being logged in properly.

Also please make sure that the JFBConnect authentication plugin is enabled. Also that the JFBConnect User plugin is published and ordered after (higher number) than the Joomla User plugin.

As for the Turkish language pack, yes, you'll need to create that. To do so, simply copy the /languages/en_gb/en_gb-com_jfbconnect.ini file to your language folder and update the en_gb name in the file. We automatically translate all the social modules for you, and there's only about 20 strings in that file, so it should hopefully be pretty easy. If you do create a language file, feel free to post it here and we will likely include it in the next version release.

Hope this helps, but if you have other questions, just let us know!

I believe that JFBconnect can have much more users/customers if you can support Virtuemart too, soon. There is a working module for Virtuemart login with facebook profile, it is JFacebook, I am sure you can check it and you can create a plugin support for Virtuemart in a short time.

I am going to explain you my problems in Virtuemart login with screenshots. Please check them and you will see that Virtuemart asks for a lot of information while a user registers through Virtuemart registration. As far as I can see, JFBconnect supports only standart Joomla registration / login, so it does not get all info from user which Virtuemart needs. Virtuemart places members/users into different groups while a user registers, for example "shopper group", "standart group" etc.
Virtuemart also produces a Customer ID from user info, but JFBconnect does not. That is why Virtuemart may not see users which registers through JFBconnect.

Here are my screenshots from admin panel, virtuemart admin panel, frontpage, comparative users from virtuemart registered & JFBconnect registered.

I can handle turkish language support part, it looks easy. Main problem is virtuemart support, I need your help.
Thanks!

Cydonian,
Thanks for the explanation. We've definitely used Virtuemart before, but hadn't thought through some of the things that could cause complications with JFBConnect. With the 3.2 version (which is in final testing now for release soon), we're adding the ability to show extra registration fields on the Login/Register page for our profile plugins (like CB, JomSocial). You've convinced us to look into a Virtuemart profile plugin as well, which, you're correct, should be pretty easy to add.

However, it won't be in the next few days as we're swamped with trying to get this release out, but we'll try to focus on it shortly thereafter for a hopeful release in April. If you'd like a refund in the meantime, we understand. We don't want you to pay for an extension you can't use, and you have 30-days from your purchase date to request one. If so, just let us know.

I've added the Virtuemart task to our to-do list, and when it's done, I'll definitely post back here.

Thanks, and good luck!

Ok, I will be waiting for your JFBconnect Virtuemart plug-in with patience. I hope you can make it ready soon.
No need to refund, your product is really good and I can use it in my other web site projects.
Thanks!

alzander, I must admit that after some testing today i got to the same conclusion as Cydonian...i didn't understand why VM and JFBconnect are not syncing the passwords until i released that the registration of JFBconnect is using the standart joomla registration and not the VM...
instead of creating a new thread i decided to post here, alzander this is a must for me too because right now users will have to registered twice!!!
I really like the way JFBconnect is coded and would like to continue use it but if there will be no VM support i will have to drop it.
Is there any progress on this?, i see in this relatively old post that you mentioned April as a timeline and now we are in May...
Thank you for your help

Yes, the VM profile plugin was pushed back a little bit while we finalized the Joomla 1.6 release. Now that that's out, our main priorities are:
* Getting a bug-fix release out for the Joomla 1.6 version, as necessary
* Creating a VirtueMart profile plugin for Joomla 1.5
* Adding JomSocial profile types to the profile plugin

One, or all, of the above may affect you, but we expect all of those to be worked on and completed during this month. It's mainly a matter prioritizing things, and the VM and JomSocial requests are pretty prominent right now. We'll definitely let you know as we have something available because we want to be able to promote this integration as well.

Would be nice to have the option when login automatically with facebook that JFBconnect will generate a user and password for joomla and VM and will add it in the confirmation email to the user, including a link to account maintenance so that they can change their user and pass...that way they will not have to register at all.

We just bought JFBconnect thinking it would work with virtuemart login and Virtuemart profiles. Will we be able to use it in Virtuemart in future updates? if yes, how long before that will be possible from today?

It's being worked on right now. It will be out by the end of the month, and likely sooner, but we don't want to specify a date that we might miss.

Hopefully this helps answer your question, and is a reasonable time. The plan is to create the Virtuemart user, allow import of some information from the user's Facebook profile, and add them to a default shopper group. If there's anything else you're looking for, let us know!
