Hi, I want the Like/Comment boxes on most articles, but occasionally have two articles on a page and don't want the Like/Comment boxes shown a second time. I would like to turn off JFBContent in those articles.

Any way to do that? Something like a {notJFBContent} tag that I could insert in the article where I want to suppress JFBContent?

There isn't a way to disable the automatic insertion of the JFBContent per article, yet. We are already working on this feature for the 3.2 release though.

Hope that helps, but understand it's not terribly helpful right now.

I second the request.
We need comments on some categories of the website but not all. we don't want a comment box on some sections of th corporate website.

What other components/plugins offer is just a field on the parameters called CATEGORIES, if left blank it applies to all the site, if categories entered separedted by comma, then only on those categories the plug in applies.
Same thing could be implemented for articles, just article IDs. to include or exclude.

I think it would be VERY helpful. Not all pages of a website need commenting.

Yup, we agree. Something to prevent (or include) the content on specific articles/categories will be in a future release.

Thanks for your feedback, we do always like to know what our users are looking for!

Hi Alzander,

A little more feedback from the field. For this feature to be useful at all, we need the discussed ability to block it for certain users. The message is a great idea for casual users, but people are complaining about the continual posts coming from myself and my partners as we log in and out all day, so for now, I will turn it off.

Another way to implement this would be to limit the post to one a day, but for myself and my partners, I would like it to be turned off completely because we are turning off our audience.

Thank you,
Keith

Keith,
I'm not sure what you mean, or if you're posting in the wrong topic. Above your post, there wasn't a discussion for showing the JFBCContent plugin based on users, only by specific articles.

As for what I think you're talking about (the status message updates on login/registration), we don't have any method right now to limit or prevent the messages. I added a task to our tracker to check what the last status message is on Facebook, and if ours will be the same, don't post it. Facebook already prevents duplicate messages, but we've seen them get through here and there.. so our check can help. As for limiting it to once a day or by user, that gets tedious as we'd have to have another database column to track the last time we posted, and gets crazy if other extensions are trying to post their own updates, so we won't be implementing that any time soon.

We'd suggest just turning off the login message for now for your purposes. You can leave the registration message on though, as that shouldn't show up multiple times.

Hope this helps, and thanks for the ideas and feedback.

We've just released version 3.2 of JFBConnect tonight which overhauls the Content plugin. In addition to selecting the layout view (Frontpage, Category Blog, Section Blog and Article), you can now specify which articles, sections and blogs to include or exclude the Like or Comment functionality from. The configuration for the Content Plugin has moved to the component area (instead of the plugin), so go to Components > JFBConnect > Social to set up the new options. Let us know if you have any more suggestions on how to improve this area further.

Thanks!
