I have JFBConnect and JFBLogin installed and functioning to a point.

They show up but the site doesn't show me logged in.

How do I set it up so when I hit the FBconnect button, I log in to the site?

Thank you in advance

Currently, we don't have any functionality for logging into the current Joomla site when you log into Facebook Connect. The intended use is for the user to already have logged into the Joomla site before being able to access the Facebook Connect login.

We're investigating different ways to handle this, but still haven't settled on the best way for it to work. If you have any suggestions/requests on how you would like it to work, let us know and we'll try to integrate it in when we add this functionality.

Thanks,
Will

What you need is something like JFusion to bridge the two softwares.

I did a quick search on the JFusion site and don't see anything about Facebook integration. Do the developers currently have something in the works, Mark?

Not at this current time, but I'm sure that if someone from the FaceBook side wanted to work with one of the JFusion Developers (or more), it could probably be done!

You need to take a look at Joomunity's use of Facebook Connect. You can create new accounts in Joomunity instantly by just using an FB profile or bind an existing Joomunity account to a Facebook account. Then Avatars plus some other things are imported automatically. With further tweaking, you can import more user FB data.

JomSocial really needs this kind of functionality. I was looking in here to see if JFBConnect would work with JomSocial, but if it can't create Joomla counts and log people into Joomla, it's not that useful to me yet.

Wait...it doesn't login to Joomla?? I probably wouldn't have shelled out the 15 bucks for this if I knew that. Have you made any progress in getting it to bridge with Joomla? I don't see the point in this extension anyway. There are plenty of free extensions for importing facebook contacts.

Will I be allowed to download the next version if it has this ability or do I have to pay again?

I guess I should have read more carefully. Since the demo appeared to log me into Joomla I assumed the component/module would as well. Honestly I feel we have a bit of false advertising here. A component and module that allows a user to log into FB remotely, BFD!!! That is usesless.

There is a new release out (2.0 RC1) that should do what you're looking for here, either creating a Joomla user (if desired) or just allowing them to login using their Facebook credentials (similar to OpenID or Gmail login).

It is a release candidate, so please test first, but it's a step in the direction you guys seem to want it to go. We'll be adding more features, and fixing bugs, as we're notified about them.

Thanks,
Alex
