As for the Kunena, we'll have to look into that. We have a slew of automated tests that we run against JFBConnect releases, and I know updating an avatar is one of those tests. I can't be sure that we check it with all of the profile systems though, so it's possible this is indeed an issue. The only thing I can ask you to check on your end is to make sure that you have the "Enable Avatar Import" and "Always Update Profile" settings in the JFBConnect Profiles tab set for Kunena. Those names are surely incorrect, but close enough that you should find the settings I'm talking about.
If that doesn't work, let us know. Another thing to test is if you update a field, to see if that's re-imported correctly. That may help us narrow it down a little more.
