The button is not working on my site. It says "Error with <sitename> occurred API Error Code: 110
API Error Description: Invalid user id
Error Message: Missing user cookie (to validate session user)" and when I click ok, it automatically logs in to the username I had logged in with, once, ages ago.

Also, when I want to log in with a different name, I have to go to facebook.com and logout from there. Otherwse it just logs me automatically to the username with which I am logged in on Facebook.

Overall, I'm not very impressed with this product, I'm afraid to say. It's been 4 months that I've been getting one error message or the other. Sometime back, when I complained about this product and compared it to jreviews, you said that jreviews' price was also higher. But you forgot it's functionalities. It has WAY MORE features and functions than your product. And to be increasing the price from $30 to $50 for THIS product is too much. JFBconnect is not worth it.

I apologize if my language is very rude or not upto the mark, but I'm really very disappointed with fbconnect. In 4 months, I've upgraded it about 4 times, uninstalled it, reinstalled it about the same time..and even then I'm not free of errors. It hurts my business. It is sad.

P.S.: Current Version: 3.0.2

I remember we helped you back in August and a little of September with some issues, including some styling things, which really aren't our territory. We hadn't heard from you since, and we can only help diagnose and debug issues that we're aware of.

Starting with the 'easy' answer. If users can't log out of your site, it's likely because you have both "Auto-login Facebook Users" and "Log out of Joomla Only" set to yes in the JFBConnect configuration area. This is a known 'bad' configuration, and we have a note at the bottom of that page to call it out in bold:
NOTE: Setting both "Auto Login Facebook Users" and "Log Out Of Joomla Only" to Yes will prevent users from logging out.
(When they log out of Joomla, the next page load will detect their Facebook status and log them back in)

Please ensure you do not enable both of these settings. However, I just logged into your site, using my Facebook/Joomla account from when we were helping a few months ago, and I was able to log out using the JFBCLogin Logout button without issue. Not sure where you're seeing this problem.

As for the Error 110, we're not seeing this as we were able to log in without issue just moments ago. That, of course, doesn't mean it's not happening, just that we need more information.
  • Does this happen in all browsers? We tried Chrome.
  • Is it possible you have Cookies disabled in the browser you're trying?
  • Is this only on an 'initial' registration, or when returning to the site and trying to login again?
  • Can you try from another Facebook account and/or computer to see if the problem persists?

  • Finally, is there any more information you can give on this error? Since you mention that you can't log in (getting the 110 error), but also mention not being able to log out and other issues that imply your logged in, I think we may be missing something.

We're sorry your not happy with your purchase. Over the course of September, we definitely had quite a few releases, which have made JFBConnect as stable as it is today. While you may be having issues, the overwhelming majority of our users are not, which is allowing us to focus on the next big release, version 3.1.

As we did a few months ago, we'll do what we can to help you get to the bottom of the problems on your site.

    Thanks,
    Alex

Autoloigin facebook users is set to NO
Logout of Joomla only to YES

The error comes in randomly, not everytime. Also, with these settings, when a user clicks on the button, s/he is automatically logged in. I don't want that. want it to ask for facebook credentials each time. What if a user has two facebook accounts mapped to my site? Then the button doesn't ask for credentials if the user has logged in to my site prviously. It simpy logs in. And to log in with a different account, the user has to log out of facebook.com and then it asks for facebook credentials.

I hope I'm clear in the description of the problem.

The random error I told you about is in all the browsers and with all machines. My users have complained that is why I was pissed off. Please suggest.

If a user is already logged into Facebook in another tab, they will automatically be logged in when they click the button. This is done by Facebook automatically using cookies that they place onto the user's computer. There is absolutely no way we can prevent this behavior as it's working as intended.

With those configuration settings, the Logout button in JFBConnect will not log the user out of Facebook (removing that cookie). Therefore, when they click "logout", but then reclick "Login Using Facebook", the behavior described above will occur.. they'll be logged back in with the same Facebook account. I would recommend setting "Logout of Joomla Only" to No to have the effect you're looking for.

Not sure about why you're getting the 110 error. We'll have to investigate further as to what this error means and possible causes. If you know of any sort of pattern to it, that'd be very helpful for us to diagnose it (more common with certain browsers, users, registration vs login, etc).

Hope this gets you half way towards where you want to be.
