Hi,

I have a non-profit and we'd like to be able to take advantage of the new Open Graph technology on Facebook. However, we are not developers or programmers. We recently came across a new service (www.actionsprout.com) that basically is a social action toolkit. You can use action words (verbs ;) ) to call people to action just like one would use the 'Like' button. For example. I could post to someone's wall: "Donate to End World Hunger" and the post would have a 'Donate' button on the bottom next to the 'Like' button as well as the organization's logo (or another graphic) along with information about the call to action.

I would like to know if JFB Connect has similar capabilities.

Thanks.
JFan

Not yet. That will be in our v4.3 release, due out in October. We'll have an easy plugin system to add nouns to pages on your site and verbs that users can 'do' on those pages. We're planning to support both passive actions ('I read article 'x') that occurs automatically on a page view, and intentional actions (I donated to blah). The intentional actions is being worked on, so I can't guarantee that will make it in the 4.3 release, but the passive system is almost done.

We'll supply plugins for some internal Joomla functionality (articles) as well as supply some plugins for 3rd party blog, shopping cart extensions, etc. There will also be a very simple API for end-users or developers to create their own actions.

Hope that answers your questions, but if you have any others, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks! I always prefer to support those that support open source if we can! I'll keep an eye out for the next release.

Sounds good. We'd recommend signing up for our newsletter (at the bottom of this page) and keep an eye out in October for the release!

Thanks,
Alex
