Creating an account via JFBConnect on my site would be nice, but may actually be a bit more work for me because of the need for different ACL group assignment upon registration. However I am more interested in the Facebook Share features of JFBConnect. I need a simple solution for my users to share pages on my site. I have easily created a share link from the Facebook api with a link like this:
Does JFBConnect do more than this for the purpose of sharing? For example with the share link that I created, it directs the user to a page to log in to facebook (Most all of my shares will come from mobile users who may not already be signed in to Facebook on a different tab of same browser like on PC).

I've noticed on some sites when I share something, instead of going to the facebook log in page it asks the user if they accept "my site" communicating with Facebook, similar to how JFBConnect does.

Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I don't have a need for a lot of the features of JFBConnect, however I AM looking for a simple one-click solution to sharing with minimal log-ins and redirects. Is JFBConnect a solution for me and why?

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.

Joe

Hello Joe,
JFBC uses FB's API to do everything it does (related to FB), so it cannot really do "more than that". JFBC comes with 2 easier ways for you to create those SHARE buttons by:
  1. using the JFBC Component's Settings, to globally set the LIKE/SHARE features for every content page.
  2. use JFBC's modules & plugins to easily integrate the LIKE/SHARE buttons inside your template, the 3rd party templates or any other place inside modules.
as said before, in terms of FB, JFBC does exactly the same, and if the user is not connected it'll be prompt to do so. also if you have set your application (the one actually in change of the connection between the user and Facebook) it'll ask the user for permissions to access data from his profile to use with that app, and from there with your site.
same concept goes for the User Integration, the will create a Joomla User for every user that connects to the site with its FB account (i.e logged in).

you are welcome to take a look at both our JFBC Demo and the Configuration Guide , that will show you better the various possibilities you have with JFBC.

Let us know if that helped you better understand the big picture, and of course we will be happy to assist you set everything as soon as you purchase a subscription and install JFBC on your website.

Joe028,
The other advantage of JFBConnect is the easy ability to set the Open Graph tags on each page. When a user "Likes" a page on your site, Facebook will normally guess what the page is about and select the title, description and image for that page. With the Open Graph tags, you can (the administrator) have the option to set the title, description and image for any page on your site. This make sure that when a user Like's the page, the story shared in their wall is what you think is best for drawing additional visitors.

The Like button does require the user to be logged into Facebook, but it does not require any special permissions granted from the user. The extra permissions are only needed when the user needs to login to your site.

Hope that Mati's explanation and mine help, but if you need anything else, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
