Good morning,

Can you set it so that new registrations to a Joomla site via JFBConnect require an administrators approval from the backend? I'm interested in them signing up via Facebook (JFBConnect) but I don't want it to automatically enable their profile on my site until its been approved by site manager. Is this possible with JFBConnect?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry? This is a PRE-Sales question as I want to know whether it offers this functionality before I buy it?!

Sorry,
it seemed to me as if you had already install the extensions and asking how to achieve this.

In general when a user logs in with his FB User, a Joomla User is created. this user can be set to be disable (as part of Joomla's settings) and then manually approved by an administrator. Similar functionality could be achieved with CB and also maybe JomSocial which are User Profiles supported by JFBConnect.

Hope that helps clarify things.

again sorry for the confusion.
Mati

Ok, thanks. So would (or could) it display a message saying that they've registered and they'll be able to login (with JFBConnect) once they've been approved by the site/administrator?

That should be a setting within Joomla, which you might want to check before adding JFBC.

Has JFBConnect never had one of their test sites setup like this? I'm keen to purchase JFBConnect on the basis that it can achieve this, but am nervous about spending that amount of money to find out it can't...

This method is based on the idea that every user will have to be manually confirmed by an admin before it can log into the website. In large scale website this could be a real pain for the website's admins and there for it is rarely used. This can be used as one way to prevent spam/bots of registering to your website, but since FB has already done that and the user's email has already been approved by FB there is no realy need to do that again (unless, for some reason, you doubt FB's approval).

The bottom line is: we do not recommend using manual approval of users, specially those registering the website with their FB user.
if you still have doubts of the User Validation process, you might want to consider solving them through Joomla's various extensions (Joomla User Profile, CB, JomSocial) which have their own way of setting the user to DISABLED until something validates them (email confirmation, admin manual approval and maybe more).

Hope that helps.

parr,
Mati is correct that managing such a solution can get tedious.

However, JFBConnect does allow you to set the page that any new user is redirected too after registration. This can easily be an article explaining that their account is in moderation and that they will need to wait until it's approved. This has been used on many sites, but it's not the common way of using JFBConnect since Facebook accounts have email addresses that have already been verified by Facebook. There are always 'closed' sites that want to do their own thing, and we can help you achieve what you're looking for.

Hope that helps,
Alex
