Hello creators of this package,

Over the last few months I have been trying to complete a system whereby users receive EXP points for using social book marks like the Facebook "like" and "share buttons"

If you don't already know, there is a component called alpha user points that gives users points based on certain actions and "rules". You can create "rules" that will give points based on certain user actions around the site, and they have documentation on how to create these. However there is terrible support from the makers and no-one seems to know how to set up a rule, whereby once a user clicks on the FB "like" button, they will receive points. I think because it involves FB API etc that people just don't try.

However I have a gut feeling from looking at the coding of rules that this shouldn't be too hard to implement. So I am begging you guys to have a look at alpha user points, and see if you can make rules for the FB "like" button FB "share button, an the FB "invite" system.

This is one of THE biggest things that websites can do today to increase the amount of word of mouth on Facebook, and if you can do this, you will seriously complete my site over at www.studentantics.com/ (still in dev)

Thanks for the suggestion. We've added the request for Alpha User Points to our tracker. There are some hooks we should be able to use to integrate into that system (from the FB side), but I can't give you a timeline on when that would be done. Now that 3.0.0 is out (YAY!), we have a roadmap for 3.1 which involves easier integration with other systems (mainly the other community software out there), but we'll take this into consideration as we're always looking for more features that users want.

AlphaUserPoints integration would be extremely viral. And that's what the invite function is all about i guess. I believe gamerewarding dynamics is the future for website-engagement. So, be ahead - integrate!=)

With 3.0.2 out, we think we've squashed just about all bugs for the 3.0 line. There were a few stinkers that took a little extra time to fix past stable, which was unfortunate.

We're now planning for the 3.1 and future releases. The big push for 3.1 will be better/easier to implement profile integration. This will allow us (and others) to easily add integration to 3rd party components instead of just CB, JS, and Kunena (none of which we use on this site.. but we do use K2 and Agora, which both have profiles.. hint hint).

In the 3.1 or possibly 3.2, a big push will be for wider integration between Facebook and your site.. things like auto-posting to wall on different user events, etc. We'd love to work with Alpha user points during this time frame.. so it may be a few weeks, or even months, but keep the feedback coming, and we'll try to get something out there that will hit everything you're looking for!

One more vote for integrate Alpha User Point :-)

In fact I'm reflecting to include AUP in my site but I have only few actions who can merit to give points. If I can give point also to any users who interact with your FB stuff and all your module it will become very interesting...

3.1 will have the new plugin system for easier integration. There will be 'hooks' during registration and login that should make it easier for us to create a plugin to give points for those events, as well as other defineable events as they occur. It won't be available right as we release the next version (already a little delayed), but this type of functionality is (as stated above) one of our focal points.

One more vote for AUP~~

It's a great idea if users can gain points for the actions of Facebook "like", "share" and "invite friend".
Is there any news for the integration?

Yes, I vote for that as well! Do we have an approximate release date? We are now gametizing our website and these features are one of the most important to let the users promote for us! Thanks!

No, there's no approximate date for this. We haven't had requests for it recently, so it somewhat fell off our radar. With the notification system we put in place for new comments and likes though, it should be pretty easy to hook into that block of code to award points for those actions (and possibly some others). We still do have the task to investigate AUP more, and when we scope out 4.1 more, we'll re-evaluate if that's a good time to integrate that functionality.

I am still very interested in it. I have done some research into it recently and I think the key is here:

I think you basically you make a rule in AUP that assigns points to the user when the event of a user clicking the like button appears.
