Is your FB application the same as in Jomsocial? If so, is the Jomsocial integrated version also going to work integrated in Kunena, or should a separat application from you be installed to integrate into Kunena? Finally I would like to hear if this aplication could be used to make 2 or 3 different sites (with content making sence to cónnect)have a "common meeting room" at Facebook - and how should this be done with regards with license - maybe with jomsocial and Kunena on one of them?

Regards
Bent Rune

JFBConnect is *not* what's in JomSocial. They are separate, and incompatible implementations of Facebook Connect. JomSocial's implementation works for many users, but JFBConnect has a different feature-set, including posting to a user's FB wall on registration/login and configurable mappings of a user's FB profile to their JomSocial profile.

Therefore, I can't speak to the integration capabilities of JomSocial's Facebook with Kunena, but ours works great. You can use JFBConnect to automatically import a user's Facebook profile to both JomSocial and Kunena if you'd like.

I'm not sure about your last question with 2-3 different sites sharing content. Facebook Connect requires a different application to be created for each site that uses it, so you can't share Facebook Connect data across sites. Not sure if that even touches on what you're asking. If not, let us know.

A caveat, we've had one user report issues with JomSocial 1.8 and JFBConnect being unusable together. We're investigating, but want to send out that warning. If true, we'll definitely come out with a fix, but don't want you to jump into anything without all the information we currently have.

I also use Jomsocial 1.8 in addition to Joomlaxi's JSPT (Jomsocial Profile Type) and OSE Membership Control 3rd party apps. Would JFB Connect work with this configuration?

You can see the workflow at myvegasnet.com.

It should work, but we haven't tested in that exact scenario. We create a standard Joomla user and setup the JomSocial user properly, so as long as both of those extensions can use the standards and don't expect something special, it should work fine. Being completely forthright though, we've used JPST only a little, and that was a few months ago and not related to JFBConnect. We've never used OSE membership.

However, we pride ourselves on support, and if you try in that config and can't get it going, let us know. We'd love to state we're compatible with that configuration. If you purchase, request support, and we aren't able to support you, we'd grant you a refund if requested.

I am using Jomsocial. They have login with facebook feature but their is a limitation. If you login using facebook then you cannot use same again to register to your site directly and if u are already registered and then u login using facebook then again your user name and password is reset in my site. Their is no proper integration of the logging feature of site and facebook which can be confusing for the user. I saw your demo site and it seems to have solved the problem by asking for new users or registered users and integrating both so next time user can log in directly after having their profile imported. but u have simmilar problem like jomsocial connect on this website. I logged in using facebook and using the same user name and password i tried to log in again it didnt work. I am really looking to purchase this extension but please clarify if user can register to my site using jfbconnect. Thanks

First off, sorry for the delay in responding to your question.

As to your question, yes, what you're asking about is one of the core features of JFBConnect. If a user registers via Facebook, they can be asked to 'join' that account to an existing Joomla account. For sites that have been around for a long time before trying to add Facebook Connect (via JomSocial, CB, or JFBConnect), this can be an almost-required feature. There's one main configuration option we use to determine how the new Facebook account is created. You can read more about it in the "Create New Users" section of our configuration guide:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/configuration-guide

If you ran into an issue joining accounts on our demo site, that's not good. We'll investigate further and ensure that we aren't missing anything, though we usually hear about broken features from our users' pretty quickly :)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I asked Jomsocial why you have these features and they dont in their facebook login which comes along with Jomsocial and they told me "They are using an alternative method for their Facebook Connect and they have written an authentication script which bypasses Joomla's security which is not what we intend to do here." Is it true that you by bypass joomla's security and is it harmful or bad in anyways.

That's completely untrue. Did you ask in their forums, or some other public way that we can see and respond to what they said?

We do not modify core Joomla or JomSocial in any way. We create a standard Joomla user which can be used by other components. Just like JomSocial creates a user that extends the built in Joomla user table, we extend the user solely by adding a mapping field in our table which links a built in Joomla user to their Facebook ID. JomSocial does the same thing (mapping the user) in their jos_community_connect table (think that's the name).

Please let me know where you saw them post that, and we'll likely be contacting them ourselves. If it's not a public question, I'd ask that you try to ask in public on their forums. My guess is that if we ask, they won't respond the same way as they did to you (or even care to respond at all).

We've never been slanted and said our implementation is better. We prefer it, as do many other JomSocial users. However, there are of course plenty of happy people using JomSocial's Facebook implementation, and that's just a-ok with us.

Well I actually asked them through support email. I tried posting in their forum but couldn't access although i am a member......Anyways i just adding our conversation below. i am satisfied with your product and support so i will surely purchase jfb connect. the best feature that using facebook connect not only user can login but register too which is the main issue with default jomsocial plugin.

me: the installation was smooth and everything is running ok till now except few issues. I have a problem using facebook connect and please try to solve this problem or else my website functionality is highy compromised. Connecting with facebook is working fine. The problem is if someone register to my website using my login and then connect via facebook and click on already a member then he cannot login using our website login and password. Similarly if someone register using connect with facebook then next time he cannot login using our website login system but only via facebook. So the basic problem is using facebook connect a person cannot log in to my website unless he uses facebook connect. How do I integrate both username and password of facebook and my website so that the user can use either to log in.

jomsocial: This is actually the default behavior of the Facebook connect plugin and there isn't any work around for this yet.

me: The facebook connect problem which I mentioned definitely has a way around. Please check the plugin from jfbconnect at www.sourcecoast.com/joomla-facebook/ . I have tried their demo and it works just fine. Please try their demo and maybe you could find a solution which I am sure will be great for both of us.

jomsocial: They are using an alternative method for their Facebook Connect and they have written an authentication script which bypasses Joomla's security which is not what we intend to do here.
