Hi All,

While struggling to talk enough users in to returning frequently to our site, as it's still in it's infancy... this sort of question has been posed by users who prefer at present to use our football supporters group's FB group page.

can the JFBConnect etc actually be set to only cross post / link with FB groups as specified by and per user, as this would more than likely suit a lot more people from a privacy standpoint. Essentially keeping their main personal FB private and just cross posting between any FB group they're a member of and our supporters group website that we run for the said members.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Regards,
Rob

Rob,
I'm honestly not sure what you're asking here. For authenticating to a site, a user must user their personal Facebook account. You can't authenticate using a Facebook Page or a Facebook Group.

Beyond that, I know you're asking for more cross-posting between your site and a Facebook Group, but I'm honestly not sure what kind:
* User updates your site -> automatically posts to Facebook?
* Facebook Group post -> automatically pulled into your site?
* etc
If you can explain that a little bit more, we might be able to give you some tips.

For reference, the next release of JFBConnect, due out in about 2 weeks, will have the ability to setup 'Social Channels', like a Facebook Group. Once configured, an administrator can easily navigate to any page of your site and immediately post that page (with a comment) to the channel(s) of their choice. That will be good for an administrator to easily push content to a FB Group or Page, Twitter Streams or LinkedIn Company Pages.

Future releases of JFBConnect will add more integration for letting user's push content to their own Page, Group, Streams, etc as well as having views for pulling in content from any of those channels for display within your site.

We're excited about the upcoming features, but they'll be rolled out as they're ready, which will be over the course of a few months.

Any suggestions or feedback you may have is more than welcome.

Thanks,
Alex

1 - What about Google+ "Social Channels" feature ?

Google+ has a 'read only' API. There provide no way to post content back to Google+ from an external website. We're hopeful that one day they will allow us to push status updates and do lots of other cool things. Unfortunately, until then, we have no ability to push any sort of content to a user's profile.

2 - Always with "Social Channels" feature, Is there a way to auto post/add Events to Facebook and Google+ ?

We'll be adding Facebook Event support in a future release for both posting event information or updates and pulling in the event information into your site. With Google+, as mentioned above, that's currently not possible.

I hope that helps answer you questions,
Alex

As always, yes, your answers help. Just one more thing:

"We'll be adding Facebook Event support in a future release for both posting event information or updates and pulling in the event information into your site."

Please, Do you have an idea "when" in your roadmap ?

I can't give specifics right now. I haven't looked into what it would take to create an event or pull that information in yet. However, JFBConnect v6 was designed differently than previous versions to make adding new 'social channels', like events, much simpler. It's definitely on our plates and a higher priority item, but I just can't give a specific timeline right now without having investigated it further.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex
