First of all thank you for this module i love it, just got it few days ago and installed it and found out that i have a major problem that can cause me to lose the main purpose of the site .

my site is joomla 3.2.1 and phpbb3 , there is a bridge i use which is Rokbridge from rockethemes .. i installed Jfbc and everything is running smooth except that when users are going to my site and clicking the facebook button to register/login with facebook they do successfuly but ... with empty avatar .. i need the avatar in joomla to be the same as their facebook account .

Any idea what to do ?

Best regards and thanks again .

JFBConnect doesn't directly store a user's avatar. We rely on 3rd-party extensions that have profile systems, like JomSocial, Kunena, Community Builder, EasySocial and others.

We don't support PHPBB because it's a whole other PHP package. Can you explain more about about what you mean by 'I need the avatar in Joomla'? Is there already some way you have to 'pull' avatars from Joomla into PHPBB? If so, what extension do they need to be stored in? We may be able to help you more with that, we'd just need to understand your configuration a bit more.

Thanks,
Alex

well no i dont need it in phpbb but in the same way i do :D i will explain now , the site is Joomla but its got phpbb forums , i used an extension call ROKBRIDGE and it makes joomla and phpbb registration and login united also ofc i have JFBC installed . so now when users go to my site , register or login with joomla / facebook they automatically get an account in phpbb .
so if they get an avatar in joomla , they get an avatar in phpbb ...

so basically if i get to do that when ppl register or login via JFBC the extension will get facebook profile pic as an avatar it will not only be joomla's avatar but also phpbb

anyway i can give u access to the site and link to check that if you want :
www.syrianabroad.com

forums :

www.syrianabroad.com/forums and pm me if u need admin access and ftp even :D

thanks for your help

Thanks for the explanation. I understand what you're saying, but I think there's still a bit of a mis-communication..

Please note:
1) Joomla, by itself, does not store avatars for users anywhere. On a new Joomla installation, if a user registers a new account, there's no method to let that user upload or set an avatar.
2) JFBConnect, by itself, does not store avatars for users anywhere. We *can* save a user's avatar from the social networks we support to multiple 3rd party profile extensions, like JomSocial, Community Builder, EasySocial, Kunena, K2, and some others.

When you say "so if they get an avatar in joomla , they get an avatar in phpbb ...", I'm not sure how you expect that to work. Does:
a) RokBridge have some method of importing an avatar from a Joomla extension into phpbb?
b) Does this avatar import work for you already in some way? If so, can you explain how (where does the user upload a photo in Joomla that is then 'pushed' to phpbb)?

I'm not trying to give you busy-work here, I'm just not familiar with your system or RokBridge in general, so I may be missing something.

I hope the explanation above makes things a bit clearer, but if not, please let me know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi and thanks for replying

1- yes joomla is not storing avatars ... but Phpbb does and thats what Rokbridge does , when it creates a bridge between the joomla and phpbb the users when they log in they get a default avatar from phpbb and this default or custom avatar later will be displayed on joomla login page as the official user avatar .

2- JFBConnect can store avatars for my users avatar from the social networks on my phpbb database or users table i mean ? i think this way can be worked out :D
and yes i know CB can store avatars and stuff and it even got a social connect but i prefered your plugged in coz CB is causing me problems in joomla and phpbb bridge so i prefer to keep it simple ..

and i repeat if you want u have the freedom to get a full access to my site to check on what u want .

Best regards

There really isn't much we can do right now. Our Social Profile plugins are meant to interface with other extensions. It may be possible to update our CustomDB plugin to also store the user's avatar in a specific directory, but there would also need to be a SQL query to update PHPBB with that user's avatar. Those are things that JFBConnect simply doesn't do right now.

A few more questions from your last post:

this default or custom avatar later will be displayed on joomla login page as the official user avatar .

What is showing the image on the login page? Is that a RokBridge module that's showing the avatar? Again, Joomla doesn't store the avatars, so knowing 'what' is actually showing the image there may give some information on how to proceed, but right now, there's nothing native we do.

Yes, JFBConnect can fetch a user's avatar. It's what to 'do' with it and SQL queries required that we don't know right now. I'm not familiar with PHPBB, so this is something that would take investigation and work to figure out.. not something we'd be able to get you an answer to in a day or so, unfortunately.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes i completley understand that and i appreciate your help even tho i know its not mandatory for u to do it but im just asking experts :)

Its showing an avatar which is PHPBB avatar , and when u even click on changing it it takes you to the phpbb profile page to change it .
