First Question:

We would like to include a form to register on our JomSocial frontpage. Our website is: socialpups.net. The form is set to POST to socialpups.net/index.php/register/ but when the form submits we get a "Session Timeout" error. How do we include JFBConnect registration on the frontpage?

Second Question:

We have set up the username field as email - how do we configure your registration to hide the username field and just include email as the username? (we are using the popular plugin username-as-email to accomplish this.

What form is causing that error message? Is that from the SCLogin module or JFBConnect? I'm not really sure where you're seeing that or how I can recreate it.

We have set up the username field as email - how do we configure your registration to hide the username field and just include email as the username? (we are using the popular plugin username-as-email to accomplish this.

In the JFBConnect -> Configuration area, set the following:
1) In the "User" section, set "Auto Username Prefix" to email. That will set the username to the email address of the user.
2) In the "Normal Registration" section, set "Username Field on Registration" to "Generate and hide". That will use the setting above to generate the username as email and then not show it to the user to edit.

I hope that helps you get started. Once we understand the first issue more, we'll gladly help how we can.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you for the reply. The second question about the username as email function will work just fine.

To expand on our first question: Is it possible to load your registration component on our frontpage? The JCLogin module only links to the registration page but we would like to load the entire registration module in our jomsocial public frontpage (frontpage.guests.php)

tylerpenney,
Right now, that's not possible. We have a few updates that we're planning in the future that should help with this. Mainly, we're planning on adding a registration view to the SCLogin module so that you can show that form on any page. We're also investigating a new registration 'landing' page which will have a lot of customizations and flexibility. We have no timeline for that yet, but the SCLogin module updates should be out in the first few months of 2014.

I hope that helps answer your questions,
Alex
