I was successful in getting Facebook login to work. I'm now working on Twitter. I have created a Twitter App and have taken the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret and entered them into the correct screen for JFBConnect. Whenever I click on the Twitter button on the login screen I get the following error.

FAILED TO VALIDATE OAUTH SIGNATURE AND TOKEN

I can't seem to figure out what setting I have that is causing this error. Any help is appreciated.

The website this is on is washingtonspeak.com if you would like to recreate the error in a live environment.

Tracy,
We did some testing to try to recreate that error message. The *only* time we could see that was when the Twitter App ID or Twitter Secret Key were incorrectly entered into JFBConnect.

Can you double check that the values you copied from the Twitter Developers area were properly set in JFBConnect? If they are, let us know, and we'll keep investigating, but that's our only guess for now as to what's wrong.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Just to be sure I deleted my Twitter Application and recreated it, plugging in the new Consumer Key and Consumer Secret into JFBConnect. Unfortunately that didn't resolve the issue. I would really appreciate any help you guys can provide as I would like to allow Twitter login for our site.

Please let me know what you need from me.

Thanks
Tracy

Tracy,
Sorry for the delay. If possible, can you Private Message me super admin credentials for your site. We'll gladly login to see if we can find the problem (and test our own API keys) to see if we can narrow down where something is going wrong.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the credentials and, especially, for the picture of your settings. The picture instantly pointed out the problem. The last line of "Sign in with Twitter" was "No". Please go to the Twitter Developer area, go into your app, click into the Settings tab and enable the "Allow this application to be used to Sign in with Twitter"

That should definitely make things go a bit smoother :)

Let me know how that goes, and good luck!
Alex

Unfortunately that didn't correct the problem. I will send you an updated screenshot of my Twitter app settings. If I could give you access to the Twitter app I would as well, just not sure how to do that.

Alright.. thanks for the updated screenshots. Fixing the Login setting was definitely critical, but obviously still not working. We tested with a known-good API key and the same issue happened.

The only thing that leaves is something we haven't run into before, but could be the problem.. your system clock. It may be a long shot, but can you check that your time is correct for both your timezone and the actual time? When performing authentication, your server time needs to 'sign' its requests within 5 minutes of Twitter's time. If not, that error can apparently occur. It doesn't look like there's any way (that I know of) to check your time in the Joomla admin area, so this may be a moot point.

If that doesn't help, the next step would be to ask for FTP credentials, if possible, so that we can edit our authentication code and check what's being generated to make sure it's not something even more bizarre occurring on your site.

We'll get you going, and sorry for the troubles!
Alex
