Topic-icon EasySocial not giving points for registration

Hi,

Users registering with JFBConnect are not getting points for registering. The points for the avatar and cover ARE working. Are we missing an EasySocial points rule for JFBConnect? Should I be asking this on the StackIdeas forum instead?

JFBConnect v 5.2.1
EasySocial v 1.09
Joomla 3.1.6

I'm assuming you're using the Automatic registration mode or the JFBConnect registration flow. In those cases, JFBConnect is the one actually creating the user in EasySocial, and we're probably missing the point award somewhere in our code.

On the other hand, if you are using the Registration Component: EasySocial mode in JFBConnect and the user is going through the EasySocial flow, that could be an issue with EasySocial.

Let us know what flow you're using and we'll have to look into this and determine what needs to be changed.

Thanks,
Alex

Can you tell me if you actually went through the EasySocial registration process, or did you login with Facebook or Google? With those 2 networks, the email address is usually provided, so automatic registration would have occurred?

My assumption is the user was automatically registered. We'll investigate the points rewards and see where we should be properly rewarding those points.

Thanks,
Alex

I have had 4 new registrations since switching to EasySocial. 3 with FB and 1 with Twitter. None of them got points for registering.

I just did a normal (non-social) registration with EasySocial's registration form and the user got the points for registering as well as the Newbie badge. So it seems social registrations with JFBConnect are passing by the ES points and achievments system.

If the Twitter account was a new registration, that would surprise me that the badge and points weren't awarded. The Twitter registration process goes 100% through the EasySocial registration flow, so if points and badges weren't awarded there, it very easily could be an EasySocial issue.

If the Twitter user was someone who registered through Facebook and then simply connected their account to Twitter, it would be JFBConnect (since the Facebook auto-registration is where the points and badges weren't awarded).

Again, we'll be investigating, but I'd love for you to test the Twitter registration yourself and verify that points and badges weren't awarded. That would help us a lot more with the information we could use.

Thanks,
Alex

The Twitter account was me and I registered on EasySocial 1.05. I am now on ES v1.09, I deleted the user, and re-registered and I got the points and the badge. So it might have been a problem with my setup when I registered a couple of weeks ago.

Looks like the issue is limited to FB registrations, which (I think) skip the ES registration form entirely.

Here is the site if you want to see the workflow. miraargentina.com/comunidad

I can delete your user later.

Sorry for the (very) delayed response to this. I wanted to let you know that we've added the badges and points rewards for new users registering with the Automatic or JFBConnect registration flows. Users that are going through the EasySocial registration flow will be awarded points by EasySocial the 'normal' way.

The update will be in the v5.2.2 release. It's scheduled for release on Friday if all of our testing goes as planned.

Thanks,
Alex

No problem. Glad we could help, and thanks for pointing out that omission in our initial integration. We have more features for EasySocial coming in the next major release (mainly, Open Graph Actions).

As always, we appreciate the feedback!

Thanks,
Alex
