Topic-icon possible to re-map social profile to another user?

Hello, I'm wondering if there's a way to re-map a social profile in JFBConnect to a different user. The use case is, e.g.:
1>> User registers for a user account with Facebook (email address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
2>> The same user registers a month later ('coz they forgot they already had an account) for a user account, but this time with Google (email address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) - naturally, this creates a new user account.
3>> User asks us to merge their two user accounts, and when we do so, we'd like to make sure both of their social profiles are mapped to the "surviving" user account/ID.

Currently, we do this in the d/b, but wondering if there'd be an elegant way to do it in the UI so we can have our staff do it (vs. the tech guy). I realize there's a reason why this is not readily available (unless I've missed it) as it has pretty significant consequences if not done right. In our case, I'd have one person do this, and would train them quite carefully in which circumstances to do it vs. not.

Anyway, wondering if there's an easy way to achieve this, or if I have to turn to, e.g., Fabrikar, or something. Thank a lot!

It's not something we support in JFBConnect natively for the reasons you mention.

We allow you to delete a connection for a user, which lets them re-associate again the future.

Additionally, the user can re-associate on their own by logging into the site with Facebook (in your example) and then going to Manage Connections menu item in JFBConnect (or using the SCLogin module's 'Show Reconnect' option) to let the user associate their current account to another social network. If that other network is already associated to another user, the existing connection will be broken and connected to the current user.

As for a way to do this in the admin area, it's not something we have plans to support any time soon. It simply hasn't been requested by users and if we did it, I think it would cause more unexpected trouble.

Finally, I'm assuming you have the Automatic Registration feature enabled. If you disable that, new users will be sent to a page where they can login using an existing account.. but automatic registration is really nice and, as you said, the user may not even remember they have an account. Just pointing that out as an option though...

I hope the above helps answer your questions with more details.

If you need anything else, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hey Alex, I figured this was the case, and appreciate your thorough answer. We have lots of dupes on our end so I'll build a little custom utility for this. Thanks again, and feel free to close this request.

No problem for the answer. If you feel there's something we can do to improve the registration flow to reduce the chances of duplicates, please let us know.

We are aware that users can register multiple accounts if they have different emails for each service. We would love to hear any thoughts you may have on how to improve that either before the duplicate account is created or after.

Thanks,
Alex
