Topic-icon [og:locale]: How to change the region? and show [alternate]?

og:locale - The locale these tags are marked up in. Of the format language_TERRITORY. Default is en_US.
og:locale:alternate - An array of other locales this page is available in.

Example:
<meta property="og:locale" content="en_GB" />
<meta property="og:locale:alternate" content="fr_FR" />
<meta property="og:locale:alternate" content="es_ES" />

1) I have now added a second language to my website and set up multilingualism. I did not see the b]og:locale:alternate[/b meta tag in aticles that are localized in another language. Will this tag be added to the component?

2) I do not want to install another “English” language on my website. Is it possible to somehow change the meta tag with language en-GB to en-US? Is it possible to add a setting to show another language in meta tag [og:locale] as an override?

p.s. I know that for Joomla it is possible to set the language to [en-US], but then on my website there will be two English languages (en-GB & en-US), which is very inconvenient. And it’s not possible to delete the language [en-GB], so I would like to find a solution so that I can redefine the [og:locale] meta tag for the English language by choosing a different country (for me, the country is preferable - the USA). As far as I understand, this tag [og:locale] cannot be shown only with the language [en], and you must also indicate the country [en-US] (as it is written in the instructions of Facebook and the OGP). On my website, just the language [en] is indicated, but for social networks you also need a country code (so bad that we can’t write this meta tag without a country code).

We don't currently set the og:locale:alternate tag. That's not a request we've had before so hadn't considered it.

What you can do for all of your questions though is to manually set the tags in the Social Meta -> Configuration area of JFBConnect. In there is a 'Default' textarea where you can manually set or override some tags, like:
og:locale=en_US
og:locale:alternate= fr_FR
og:locale:alternate= es_ES
Give that a shot and let us know if that works for you.

Thanks,
Alex

I do not think this will work for me. I have included multilingualism in Joomla and my site has 2 different languages.

This override setting will override specific tags on all pages of the website. But I need to have one parameter on the Russian version of the website, and another parameter to be redefined on the English version of the website, so I think that it will not be possible to add tag [og:locale] through this setting, so that it works on two different versions of the website (I have in view with two languages of the website).

This tag should automatically show if the multilingual component on the website is enabled. Please add this tag in the next version of the component.

We'll look into how best to set it automatically. Can you send me some example pages from your site as well so we can look at how you have the multi-lingual features setup? I'd like to see your URL structure just so I know we're recreating things properly when testing.

Thanks!
Alex
