Hi, this morning I bought JFBConnect license (7.2.6 ) for my Joomla! 3.8.6 site.
Could you plese visit this test page?
www.taichionline.it (/) test2
As you can see the social stream doesn't work.
Yo can see in the attached image my channel configuration
File Attachment:

I also tryed deleting the channel and recreting it as I read in this forum, but without results.
The only thing I can report is when I installed JFBConnect, Joomla shows this error message: Call to a member function getManifest() on string
Also reinstalling the extension I always have the same error message.

I hope you can help me, best regards
Francesco

Can you go to the JFBConnect -> Configuration area and set "Debug Mode" to "On". Then, reload the Channels page to see if any error messages are showing. That will help narrow things down a bit further.

Beyond that, has this channel been working previously and just stopped, or is this the first time you are setting it up?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi,
I set "Debug Mode" to "On" but no errors are displayed.
This channel has been working previously and just stopped. I uninstalled JFBConnect extension and yesterday I installed it again.
If you want Joomla backend and ftp credentials please write me an e-mail, maybe we will solve the issue soon.

Thank you
Francesco

I apologize for the delay. I just accessed the admin area of your site, but was unable to see any reason why the stream isn't working. We're investigating a few cases where user's are saying Channels or other Facebook features have stopped. They are all related to changes Facebook has made since the privacy issues arose last night and they have done a poor job documenting all of the changes.

To investigate further, can you do the following:
* Go the Facebook Developer Area , click into your app and go to the Roles area. Add my user ID as a developer: 1251253607
* Send us FTP credentials for your site

With those 2 things, we'll be able to get the access token for your user that you're setting up the Channel on your site and be able to tinker with that to see why Facebook isn't returning any data for the stream. Once we can do that, narrowing down the problem should be very quick.

Thanks,
Alex

Francesco,
Thanks so much for your patience. With FTP and developer access, we were finally able to narrow down the cause. The issue was that Facebook changed how older apps, such as yours were able to access the Page API. I don't know why they made the change and it's not documented. We updated the code on your site to make a call to the newer version of the Facebook API and things seem to be working just fine now.

This fix will be in the next JFBConnect release, which we're working on now. The stream test now works but I couldn't find where you use the Stream on your site. Please publish and let me know if you run into issues, but I think it should be fine.

Thanks,
Alex

It's working now. In the SCSocialStream module parameters, the Page wasn't selected. You may have deleted the channel and recreated it, which means you'd have to set that module up again.. or something else. Either way, it was an easy fix, which is what we like :)

If you run into anything else or need further assistance, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Great support!

Now everything is working fine. You can see the module in the home page. I wish to ask your opinion about the sreaming module, as I configured it, relating to the imminent European cookie law GDPR. I wish to desable the cookie bannrer and only use technical cookies on my site. Considering as I set the facebook streaming module, can we consider the module and his cookies as technical cookies? As you can see I hided the provider and there only are links to facebook. In orher words it is not possible to do nothing using facebook on my site.
Thanks a lot
Francesco

I don't believe that's any violation of the GDPR, though I am not an expert. You're showing content from Facebook only. The way the SCSocialStream module works is to pull the content down to your site and then display it as normal HTML content on your site. The user doesn't have to have a Facebook account and simply showing the SCSocialStream module does not allow Facebook to track the users on your site.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
