Is there anyway to get location added to the list of "Social Network Profile Import Configuration?" I would love to import my users location from facebook to easysocial. Thanks!

If your application is approved for the user_location scope, then the location can already be retrieved and imported from Facebook into EasySocial. If you haven't submitted through the approval process yet, you can still test the import with a user that is an admin or developer of your FB application. Otherwise, a normal user that doesn't have a role in your app won't be able to have the data retrieved. If you are testing with an admin/developer and have the location mapped in the JFBConnect > Profiles > EasySocial tab, but the data is not being imported correctly, please let us know.

I understand I have to get it approved first but I don't see any available field on the "Social Network Profile Import Configuration" to import location. Please see attachment

In the Facebook column, the dropdown should have the option for the "Basic Info - Current Location" field. This is the location field that can be imported from Facebook. Currently supported EasySocial field types that can be imported into are: birthday, datetime, email, gender, textarea, textbox and url. Only fields of these types will be displayed in that "Easysocial Field" column.

The only current way to have location imported from a social network into EasySocial is to setup a textarea or textbox field which is a freeform field that any text can be entered into. Then, you can import the user's location into that.

Unfortunately, Facebook's location field is variable and changes format based on where the user is from. That makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to map the values from Facebook into options that you may have in EasySocial for different possible locations.

I hope that helps explain, but if you need anything else, just let me know,
Alex

I understand but easysocial's built in facebook integration imports the location from facebook so I switched to using that. Only thing is, easysocial have added an extra step in the registration process which kinda defeats the purpose. So because of this, facebook won't approve my publish_actions because of that extra step. I'm like stuck in the middle right now because jfbc has so much better features than easysocial.

We'll have to look further into the location ability. It's possible Facebook has changed and solidified how they return locations into a way that we can easily map it into EasySocial. Obviously, they're doing it, so there must be some way.

I've added this to our to-do list, but I don't have a specific timeline on when we'd have something to use.

Thanks,
Alex

I was going through the documentation and I noticed that you guys had a picture showing the location import. Am I missing something? Did I do something wrong? See attachment.
